If you don't even have the knowledge for simple words, where does the rest come from?
Not bothering to write correctly and not knowing how to write correctly are different things. I am talking about first, you talk about second.

Soooo... How are we going to enforce it?
This.

Royal Road has Ai tags, but it doesn't take long before a scroll through latest updates yields a fiction that screams predictive text. Have they ever done anything about stories that say they are not Ai but really are suspect?

I was never saying that one denies the other. It could just be a guideline. In the end, you will never be able to prove it anyway, unless you hack into their computer and check their AI chats.

I am more afraid of people flagging not AI work with AI tag and removing them than I am worried with leaving AI works on the site. Because I believe in innocent until proven guilty, and there is no prove in case of AI. There is literally no way of proving it apart from "hunch".

I can already see how haters adn trolls are going to abuse this system. And how are you going to prove it's not AI? Record your writing? Stream how you write? Answer tests? I don't find any of these methods acceptable. Now I know it looks like a strawman, but I really can't come up with anything good.

You're not wrong about this. We can't force anyone to show anything, and we can't prove anything. But that doesn't make the option to have this warning useless. Even if only 2 out of 10 people use it, it will already be better than the current situation.

Content warning on its own can be ok, I agree. I have another question. It is about content guidelines.
Prohibited Content AI Generated Stories - Stories created mostly by AI will be rejected. You can use AI to help create your stories but most of the story should still be written by you.

Who should use this "AI content" warning? People who used it a little bit? People who used editing software? People who use AI to write the story should be banned, not using content warning. People who use a little bit of AI here and there should use it. But the fact of the matter is both categories will use it because there is no way to prove their claims.

I think definition of this AI content warning is a slippery slope.

Royal Road has both AI-created and AI-assisted categories. Since AI-created content isn't allowed here, AI-assisted would make sense. As for who uses it? Anyone who uses AI to modify parts of their story, creating an AI undertone. That's what people hate. They usually don't care about incorrect punctuation, but they do notice the same tone, word choices, and overly flowery filler words.

AI-assisted might work. You should make a feature request thread. That's the best chance of getting it applied. Without jokes, accusations, swearing, elaborate on why you think it is the right thing to do and pray Tony agrees with you. This is really the only way of doing it, our voices don't really matter. If you define everything properly, even if majority won't agree or simply won't vote, there is still a chance Tony will apply it.

You can also ping Tony directly, or ask him on his profile page. Be polite though, and be patient. He is alone and overworked, so he takes his time before answering.

There is already one in.

Yes, they could be a content tag.

What it would do?

Would it hide the story or merely hang there, warning the readers?

Is it a tag that the users would enable manually, or would it be automatically assigned by some script running the text through the "detector" software?

Authors will either use it or not, voluntarily. So that readers can exclude novels with this content warning from appearing. Nothing bad if you put it that way.

On RR my story has the AI-assisted tag. I've had people refuse to engage with it because of it. It's the same storty I post here, so I would tag it too.

I tag because I use editing software. A lot of people use those tools.

I chose to tag it because I want to help normalise it; everybody uses AI to some degree. Phone predictive text is AI. Voice recognition is. Grammarly, MSWord, Google Docs, ProWritingAid, DabbleWriter, name-generators; they are all AI-powered.

I guarantee most writers:
- wouldn't tag their work out of fear people will buycott them for it,
- don't consider or don't know how it's AI-assisted (it is).

So anyone who choses to disclaim gets hit by the current public sentiment, and most get away without doing it, which feeds into a loop: you won't see people volunteering the information any time soon.

You end up with a tag nobody puts on their story, because the only thing that happens when you do is that you lose.

Just for verification.
Are grammar checks considered?
If so, in which categories?
I am on free trial on word-tune, QuillBot, LanguageTool, and Grammarly.
They suggest some synonyms and regenerate my faulty sentences into a more proper form i.e. more polish you could say?
Since my story is on RR, I have used this tag. Is it correctly used?

Yes, but if they want it let them have it. The upside of this tag, the vocal minority that hates on AI more than necessery won't rate your story with 1-star, they will simply ignore it.

Now, if they were to demand that novels are to be tagged with any kind of AI warning forcibly, they can go fuck themselves.

Yes, you are correct. The tool you use and how you use it is AI-Assisted.

My fear is they would ask to be banned from trending/homepage rather than simply choosing to ignore it.

Once again, they can go fuck themselves if they were to demand this. I think tag on its own, or new content warning is a reasonable thing to ask an apply. Anything more than that is a no, at least for now with the tools we have at our disposal.

Good to know!
I have few doubts.
Which category would ChatGPT be placed in?
I had this shower thought if I upload my full piece in ChatGPT and ask it to review, rate and ask for scoop of improvements, would it still be considered as AI- assisted?

This applies to all of them; Copilot, Gemini, ChatGPT, etc.

Bouncing off ideas with them still counts as AI-assisted, even if you chose to not act on anything it suggests; you got something out of it. Maybe confirmation you did something right. Maybe it seeded an idea for the future.
You can ask ChatGPT to find spelling mistakes, repeated ideas, tense slips, POV slips, etc.
It's not evil to do so, and it's AI-assisted still.

Some people would tell you to be careful, as the text you copied to get corrected will now be OpenAI to learn from, but I already post my story online for free, so GPT can already read it all up anyway, I am not worried about it getting preview versions ahead of time.

Thanks for confirmation!
I thought it would be considered under AI generated content because you requested a prompt and edited with that prompt into your final piece.
Lesser the tags, lesser the outrage.
