I hope this doesn't come off self absorbed. After 3 months of writing everyday for several hours, I look back on my first few chapters and find them a bit slow, at least compared to how I usually write now. What are your thoughts on revising chapters early on even after 39 chapters have been posted?

It's definitely a lot of work but if you have the time to go back and fix some things I think it's worth it.

You always should make the first chapters the best you can. But if you want to work on a rewrite for a large number of chapters? Wait until the story has made it to a stopping point. Such as the end of a book or arc, don't leave your readers waiting for a rewrite most won't look at.

Do you mean upload 2 version of chapter 1-3? Those are the chapters I want to work on.

I want to work on chapter 1-3. Just to be more catching and fit my personal style more. Thank you for your input.

I only want to rewrite first 3 chapters. So I guess I should work on them now.

My advice is set hard limits on it. Too many authors, as they gain skill from experience, feel a need to go 'fix' their previous work, and end up in a constant loop of revisions. In another 100 chapters, you'll be much better than you are now, and you'll look back at the first 30 chapters and decide you want to 'fix' them again. I'm not discouraging making fixes, just be careful of it. Set your limits for your future self now, so that you don't feel the urge to rewrite mid-story. It depends on what your long term goals are with your story though. That's also important to establish from the start. Do you want to make it a published book in the future? If so, save the rewrites for that. If your only goal is to make the story on websites popular, then doing intermittent rewrites is fine I suppose (though the workload will be very high. You'll have to keep track of multiple different time frames. A change of anything at the start can butterfly into other portions of the story that would need to be corrected for continuity later.)

This is completely normal! If you've been writing daily for the past few months and you're finding yourself unhappy with your first work, there is no doubt that you have simply improved your writing. That's good! It might make your story feel a bit wonky to you, but that's okay. Personally, I have only posted one story so far. When I first posted it, I was quite happy with it. Now, every time I think about it, I get an eh feeling. In my eyes, it is not a masterpiece and was never created to be that way. I created it because I wanted to see what I could do, how I build stories, characters, personalities, relationships, etc.

I now have two more stories unposted and in the works. Already, I feel they are better than my first. I'm improving! My stories are growing. You should look at your earlier works as your babies. They are yours, they helped you grow, and they are shaping the writing you will become pleased with.

An example of this that is easier to see because it is done through drawings, but think of the manga Haikyuu! If you look at Furudate's beginning chapters and compare them to the chapters nearing the end, you will see a massive improvement and development in his style. He is not redoing his beginning chapters nor is he upset with them. They helped him grow! Not that I know him personally, but I'm sure he is very proud to look back and see his steps of growth. Think of it like keeping baby photos.

I always say that while drawing is a form of art that changes over time and depends on the person, writing is no different; writing is a form of art and people have different forms. Unless you are grammatically incorrect, your writing is not wrong but simply your own.

Don't go back to rewrite it right now. Wait until you finish or get to a good stopping point.
Otherwise you might end up just quitting all together.
