Also do the both of you have a preferred opening for white and black? Mine is the ponziani opening for white and the stafford gambit for black or sometimes kings indian.

With the white pices I usually play the bishops opening, with the black I play various modern defenses aiming for the hippo.

In chess, I'm a 700-900 rating in Blitz, making me an amateur (5 minute games) and a 1,200-1,500 rating in Rapid, making me a novice or intermediate (10 minute games). My goal at the beginning is to trade my bishops for enemy knights and then set up pawns to block off enemy bishops. They'll have a hard time doing forks without any knights. I love to bully enemy bishops with the french defense variants if I'm white. lol

Ponziani is great; Stafford is a bit too advanced for my tastes. I like to protect my knights, at least until the midgame.

@Shiriru_B Plus, if white starts with a pawn to E4, the statistically best move you could make as black is a pawn to C5. The Sicilian defense has an extremely high win rate for black.

I find it a bit sad that there is no analogue to Josekipedia in the chess world. Granted I might be blind, but in go if you want to learn an opening pattern you have a free and detailed and up to date option, the closest I could find was a site that allowed you to learn the first three moves from an empty board position without an account.
