Possible Ship Girl/s Story- Looking for Interest!

So I'm an author who loves researching new subjects for future stories, and I am especially fond of niche or unusual categories; as such I've currently been looking at writing a story oriented towards a male audience (though like all of my stories, it's really for either gender), and one of the sort of niche categories I've found that seems interesting is ship girls.

Are there any readers on here that are interested in such a thing? My idea was a bit different though. Imagine Valhalla exists (the nordic after life for warriors). Now imagine it's a different version where all kinds of warriors go, where they exist and fight in this afterlife in one form or another. Now imagine how it might reflect modern warfare. Now...ship girls. Thats right...that is a leap in logic. And that's the fun part.

Now imagine it's mainly ship girls of modern classes of ships...and our ship girl is a Russian nuclear powered submarine. Now to be exact, this isn't like Kancole (sp?), but rather more like...the ship is actually a ship, and the girl is actually a human girl aboard that ship...and she controls it with her mind or...super powers or whatever, and the ship responds accordingly. Don't ruin the magic with explanations, right? In this case theres no magic involved except for the idea that you could reincarnate onboard a warship and find that you've become one with it. Man & Machine. Or in this case...Girl & Machine. She is the sub. But her flesh and blood body actually exists too. Though she may not be able to leave the ship...or maybe she can only go a short distance from it.

Now imagine it's an actual world, where we have actual real nations full of actual real people. And the ship girls can be independent or join the navies of these nations and fight for them in exchange for whatever they might want that can be offered in exchange. So...sort of a political battle-royale kind of story.

So!

Yes.

Any takers!? I've already written the first chapter and I'm thinking about writing more.

Feel free to offer your own ideas, or describe any kinds of things you would like to see! Please be serious though. We authors really do put a lot of time and effort into what we write.

Until the actual boats showed up this sounded like one of the season openers for the old series Charmed (the Valkyries were tasked with finding the best warriors, training them to fight each other, and preparing them for a final battle with "evil" but things went sideways and the sisters had to get involved... only to mess things up even more... but nobody became a ship!).

I read a story like that, but it quickly went off-topic and got boring. It definitely could be a good story, it just depends on the execution.

So, is the nuclear submarine a girl, or is the girl a submarine?
Would an American Sub have Polaris Missiles for tits?

What about...

Ah, I remember the anime which was like that, but I forgot the name. It didn't involve magic, but yea ...

... I would be careful with the whole "real world nations" thing. It spells trouble, and only trouble. There is a difference between "in-universe politics" and "real world politics", and it's not wise to be involved with the latter at this time and age.

Remember that certain site I couldn't mention which doesn't appreciate art?

They don't appreciate the real world references either. Of course, it isn't strictly banned, just as the "sexual" isn't banned, but ....

Edit:

I found it. Arpeggio of Blue Steel (蒼き鋼のアルペジオ, Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio).

Submarine avatar is the girl....

Well, I'm not a dude, actually. I'm a female author who likes to write stories that female writers don't usually write. So my stories tend to be a bit of a mash up between things women like to read, and things men like to read.

As for what you wrote, no, she wouldn't have ballistic missiles for breasts. As I stated in the original post, the ship exists as a relatively normal ship, and she is aboard it controlling it. She is one with it in the sense that she shares its sensor feeds and controls mentally. So she can operate it without a crew. Though I'm thinking that a crew will spawn with the vessel itself...but most of them will be like soulless NPCs who just live to function in their designated roles. I'm a bit uncertain about that last bit, at the moment. I think in that case she would mostly either control the crew or take control manually which she could do remotely. But thats the idea so far.

As for weird things from Japan, I don't mind. I'm not trying to write the weirdest thing possible. I'm just trying to entertain my audience with some of the less used genres and story ideas. Cheers, sir.

No, not real world as in Earth. Real World as in a living breathing world with actual people (aka, not just ship girls and npc's). The nations and kingdoms will all be completely fictional.

The idea of the "ship girl" being on-board AI isn't actually new.

It proves that your idea is valid and could be reasonably done (and attract audience)...

Perhaps it is a matter of presentation and context rather than the idea.

I present to you, Arpeggio of Blue Steel

EDIT: oops, looks like beast_regard already got it first. Dang it!

I didn't think Arpeggio was all that good tho. Maybe if the ship girls didnt all lose their ships, it would have been better...

apart from their janky animation style, the concept is actually the best compared to, say, KanColle and its derivation i.e BSG and AL.

I was thinking of like, maybe if I have a billion dollars in my bank account, I could probably make an Azur Lane anime and use the same concept as Arpeggio of Blue Steel
