Do you ever feel bad losing a follower?

I am just a lurker and not active, but PJB, you are the most attention-seeking, desperate person on this board. Your story on RR has 20 Reviews and 22 followers. You have essentially 2 real followers (if you count yourself, maybe 1). The "followers" leaving are your fake review partners who gave you those fake reviews, slowly distancing themselves from you because they no longer need your fake review or are actively trying to avoid even being associated with you because it's that obvious. Seriously, are you that bored? I don't get it. The level of self-deception is UNREAL. Your readers on this site are all fake too! You need to wake up!
Someone is stirring the drama. Why not reveal whose alt you are? The OP? Or someone else?

Considering that two out of your five posts are hating on OP, the former seems more likely.
The latter would make you bored enough to use your "slightly aged" account for hating on a single user. There are many more people you could hate on.

I want you to create better content. Here is unsolicited advice:
  • Age your accounts properly! Give them a public scribblehub profile following several series, make a few low effort profile posts. Stretch it out! Don't make all your posts on a single day.
  • Hide your target. If you want to hate on someone, disguise yourself as a run of the mill troll or an old grump who hates on everyone. I.e., you could make annoying profile posts and comment on people's avatars. Or create a few threads bemoaning the downfall of "the artist", the commercialization of art, and so on.
  • Stay in character. "I am a lurker and not active" is not as believable as "I didn't want to waste my time on you, but you keep posting this infuriating crap!". You are a direct person speaking freely, not someone who makes excuses. If you want to play the latter, you need to change the rest of your post to fit.
Hope this helps. Please create high-quality drama in the future.

Sigh. I honestly stand by my post. I have nothing against PBJ, but the guy needs to wake up. He has 0 readers, but he posts like he is managing 20 stories, thinking about making it into a business. Less faking Reviews and forum bragging, more writing. That's what I'd like him to do.
Also, as I am not hating on him at all, I feel like your guide, which you probably used yourself numerous times and got down to perfection, is not at all useful for me, since I am not attacking anyone and don't need to disguise myself, so keep it to yourself.

I have nothing better to do, so here we go:

I am just a lurker and not active, but PJB, you are the most attention-seeking, desperate person on this board. Your story on RR has 20 Reviews and 22 followers. You have essentially 2 real followers (if you count yourself, maybe 1).
Any reasonable person would balk at saying something like that to a perfect stranger. Calling someone "the most attention-seeking, desperate person" is hardly the act of a gentleman.
The "followers" leaving are your fake review partners who gave you those fake reviews, slowly distancing themselves from you because they no longer need your fake review or are actively trying to avoid even being associated with you because it's that obvious.
I suppose this bit could be considered valid. I have never read any of OPs stories, but most people on RR do "review trades". Hence, I would not be surprised if this applied to the OP.
Seriously, are you that bored? I don't get it. The level of self-deception is UNREAL. Your readers on this site are all fake too! You need to wake up!
And this bit is very suspicious. Did you read it before hitting send? "Your readers on this site are all fake too"? If you had added !11!!1, I would have considered your post a satire. This reads like an angry kid trolling.

What business is it of yours? What's your personal connection to OP? Since you claim he has 0 readers, you cannot be one of his readers. Then why care if he writes? Are you his alter ego?

Then would you say you always call strangers attention-seeking and desperate? Why are you hating on one singular person? You claim that you are not disguising yourself, but it's plain to see. Your amateurish display is frankly boring.

I read the forum. I notice posts by the same guy repeatedly. I read them, got annoyed, and posted. Now I have said my thing and won't mention him anymore. As far as I am concerned, I am done. I even wish him all the best and can only say: Stop paying attention to numbers and focus on writing! Dunno what your business is about or how you are connected to him, but hey, I am not that bored, so I won't bother to find out, so keep it up if you want to; I am done. This will be my last response to any thread started by PBJ, and I think I was pretty clear in what I was trying to convey, so no more of that is needed. There is no targeting at all. I mean, why would you open this kind of post again and again if you have 22 followers (20 of them by your Review trade partners) and then ask, "How does it feel?" all melodramatically? Sorry, this is all BS to me, and I admit I got triggered, but I am not targeting anyone. I just posted my honest opinion and I stand by it. Tell me how I am wrong if you want but I swear that it's 100% my own honest opinion and I stand by it.

I've never spoken to OP as far as I can recall. Your latest post is reasonable, but your original post reads like a kid trolling. Hence, as a writer, I left a critique.
I am still doubtful, of course. How do you know that 20 out of his 22 followers are review trade partners? Did you check after seeing his post? I 'spose that's possible.

As a civilized person, you recognize that you were "triggered" and a little direct. Are you that direct off the line as well?
Online, there's an "ignore" button for a reason. I use it liberally. And if amateurish sales tactics and attention-seeking behavior annoy you, I recommend so do you.

Have a nice time of day.

The "followers" leaving are your fake review partners who gave you those fake reviews
Umm, no? Every review swap I've done doesn't net me an automatic follow at all. In fact, the only times where I do gain followers is quite sporadic, either many in a whole week or never. You could've made a better argument here on this site because you gotta follow someone to rate/review their story, but even they leave eventually.

If all the authors I did a review swap with on RR gave me a follow, the numbers would be at roughly 43 or 45. Not a very huge ballpark either way, is it? Because I don't care about that. I still gain way more views here than on RR, and those views always give me a surprise because they're more in-line with an old trending story instead of a recent, month-old one. I was only humoring the question if other authors on this site feel a little bummed about losing a follower or two.

No need to pretend I'm doing some devious grift. If I was, I would've written all my chapters via ChatGPT, but as any sensible author would say, fuck that.

Don't forget to create the mandatory "trending/rating threads" since it's a rite of passage!

That's my advice as an alt of @minacia and @Mellohwa

Yes, it hurts to lose 2 or 5 followers when you release a new update, and it happens to me often since I have 4 novels. But something I’ve noticed is that luckily, I recover them before the day ends, gaining 6 or 8 instead. This replaces the dirty bastards who decided to stop reading me. (Just kidding, I love every reader, but hey, losing sometimes is part of the process to gain more...)
