This is a very good novel about an immortal taking in disciples and watching them grow up and then part with them. Very bittersweet at times and funny at times.
It has a very strong Chinese novel flavour, with characteristic grammatical mistakes and in one chapter there was a quote like

I am somewhat convinced this is a translation but also can't find it. Pls help.

This is a very good novel about an immortal taking in disciples and watching them grow up and then part with them. Very bittersweet at times and funny at times.
It has a very strong Chinese novel flavour, with characteristic grammatical mistakes and in one chapter there was a quote like

I think its not.

80% sure.

Not just bc cant find it (i reverse-gtl some parts and googled them, not findings),
but bc the quality.......not quality but more like "style", you can see its not a chinese author that did it. Probably.

I mean. Some details, clearly it wasnt a chinese author where competition is tough and their salary depends on it.
You could say even, that some details are red flags that chinese authors would try to not do at any cost, just like SH writers know to NOT DO ntr.


EDIT : OK now im 99,99999999% giga sure ITS NOT a translation. No chinese author ever EVER EVER write

reading two hundred web novels in my past life

the number of "novels" they have read in "past life".

(its kinda a silent consensus among authors just like everyone agree to write a "handsome" MC and no "ugly" protag, and no NTR)

(its not that its bad persay, in fact i wish they would do that, but sadly its their cushion method to not mention it = so that if they write totally BS/plotholes later on, they can escape responsibilities. Like a farwest cowboy would say i shot a lot of targets, and not i shot 100000 targets, this way if he miss they can say "hey i simply shot 20 which is a lot its normal i miss sometimes")

But I did find in exact same title in RRL but author name is different.

I believe it is an english creation, though I cannot rule out the fact that it might be a translated work (like that minecraft in a sword and magic world) without crediting OG.

As for the flags ?
Lets say :

1) The "thing". The insect. Like jp having a dislike for this thing, even chinese authors try to NOT add that to the plot
Also which sane chinese author would write a "thing" turn into immortality or cultivator !?????
Its like saying someone's religion will gladly accept it into "heaven" = its just "urg"to anyone having the religion. And well, xianxia, cultivation, is quite a big thing for them despite just fiction, just like japan dont allow jokes on the torii gate even in fiction.

2) Kidnapping children. I think its a big taboo for their country. Bc they suffered HEAVILY on this stuff in early years of modernization.
See the horrors where beggar clans kidnap children and cripple them in medieval europe and stuff ? Well they suffered that a lot in 1900.
Nowadays, no matter the hard job of the parents, now each and everyone preschoolers will have parents getting and not letting come home alone.
Early 2014 CNs i have read lot of urban novels arcs that mention real life stories where some old men travel whole country on bike just to try to find their "lost child", touching the topic of child kidnapping gangs existing.
It was not uncommon to see a movie-making novel where MC do one movie arc to try to help parents find their child or advertisement-maker MC.

3)They Never write "I read XXXXX novels in past life"
Even the anti-routines that act like Deadpool/Kazuma and dodge routines bc they have read lot of novels. They never mention it.
