Do you ever feel bad losing a follower?

For me, I learned to just accept it as a usual occurrence. I lost two followers this week, but it was only on RR, so it's not that big of a deal. As for my followers on this site, it's pretty much the same 49 readers.

On RR, I was shocked to see one follower on my second week. After a month, I had two ... for two days. Now I'm at 3.

On RR. I write under a different pen name, different content. Yeah it feels like shit. I stopped the writahthon because my followers went from 10 to 0, don't know what I did wrong. People on royal road are hard to please. Numbers go and there like "yay". Numbers go Down and their on their way to type a nasty 1 star review.

On scribble hub, the followers flood in daily, so I don't care too much. As your long as your consistent.

Always. But, I push it away from my mind. It's not worth my time to stress over something that depends on one's preferences.

It happens. People either deleted their account or got banned most of the time. I say don't worry about it. The only time when you must worry is when your followers start following you home in real-life and not just on the site.

Several years ago I had a follower climb all over one of my novels. Called me out. Worst part was he was right. I had put the novel out before doing another revision. He motivated me to do a massive rewrite. Did me a favor. Followers/reviewers/commenters - I pay attention. With enovels we can get a book out quickly - maybe too quickly. The good news is we are just playing with electrons. We can make changes. Anything on SH can be improved. No trees killed in the process.

Honestly, I don't like it when the numbers go down or don't increase. It definitely feels bad, but it's part of the game, and you have to accept it. What the brain is seeking is just that dopamine hit; once you realize this, you can learn to handle it maturely if you want to.

You did nothing wrong because those 10 people are the same person. They are alts of another author who use them to increase their story's statistics but have enough sense to follow other authors' stories so it won't be too obvious. I guess they still got caught in the end and took a banhammer to the knee.

I don't feel bad when I lose followers its their choice to follow me I never voice it out or ask and when they comment on their own it makes me feel good because they do so of their own not with me pushing them. At times I just ask if they enjoyed the chapter and even got into a whole conversation with someone about a potential plot line in my story and if one day they stop following thats fine.

Certain things used to bother me occasionally, but I really can't care anymore. I just do my thing and let people do their thing. And if they don't like my thing, then alright. The only thing that bothers me anymore are stupid comments. I am not talking about criticism. I am talking about commenters who say "this story has no action, dropped" when the story never had an action tag. Or when the tags clearly say that my MC is dumb, but I have a reader tell me. "I am dropping because the MC is dumb."

Those aren't criticisms. Those are just dummy dinosaurs wearing human costumes.

I am just a lurker and not active, but PJB, you are the most attention-seeking, desperate person on this board. Your story on RR has 20 Reviews and 22 followers. You have essentially 2 real followers (if you count yourself, maybe 1). The "followers" leaving are your fake review partners who gave you those fake reviews, slowly distancing themselves from you because they no longer need your fake review or are actively trying to avoid even being associated with you because it's that obvious. Seriously, are you that bored? I don't get it. The level of self-deception is UNREAL. Your readers on this site are all fake too! You need to wake up!
