That's the question.

What are the safe ways of doing a turn when riding a motorcycle?

Why am I asking this, you ask?

Well...

Long story short, I did a turn and fell while riding a motorcycle.

Got several bruises, fractured toes on my right leg, and I apparently crippled said leg too.

Great.

So, I propose slowing down, pulling the front brake slowly before turning is one safe way to prevent an accident from happening.

Any other suggestions?

Slow down. Use signals. Look at the side mirrors. Careful turn.

You'll get another chance at life when you do.

Also, when you brake, slowly push or pull (depending on the brake type) both the brakes at the same time (front and back) so you won't get in an accident. Using only the front brake will have a high chance of stalling the motorcycle and you flying to the ground.

If you have to lower your leg while slowly turning (especially in uneven roads), you can do so. Just be careful when doing it to avoid possibly injuring your feet and legs.

Yeah so uh...

Can't find a completely safe motorcycle other than those uhm... Modified motorcycles.

No rear left/right mirrors, left brake (the brake on the back tire) is broken, and I only have a right brake.

Oh, and, it's fast asf.

Can't blame anyone, as if god damned me for a day.

good advice above. to add, keep your road in mind. mud, dry dirt, layers of loose sand, ... if you are driving on unfamiliar material or in bad conditions, it will affect you. seems obvious? people still forget it.
on mud, your wheels will not grip. but remember that if you do not lean, you cannot make narrow turns.
you can try lean against the turn, but you should practice this technique first. this is the modern age, I am sure there is a youtube video somewhere.

generally, if you fall, either your speed was too high or your weight was not distributed correctly. practice the latter and you can turn swifter and narrower.

You can safely modify your motorcycle with good and complete parts.

What you're telling me is that the motorcycle you're using is unsafe. No amount of 'defensive driving' will lower your accident risk.

Side mirrors are for looking at the vehicles following you on sides and behind. Rear brake is so you won't stall when you pulled/push the break levers, and yeah, use it at the same time.

You can go fast. Hell, I'm used to racing other riders before. Know your route first, to avoid which part has uneven roads, or elevations. If you're first time going that street, slow down.

You need to know when to slow down and prioritize life, than die being a 'cool' idiot. Note the weather, road conditions, and your motorcycle itself. Driving IQ, is what the driving regulation in the Philippines termed it.

Edit: I've been a motorcycle rider since 2016. I've used Honda Wave 125 Alpha and Suzuki Raider J Crossover.

Also raced in the streets (illegally at night, lol) before the pandemic.

Ahh... The MotoGP style, no?
Practice on a bicycle so you don't cripple yourself.
What a brilliant idea.
Problem is, the bike is dysfunctional.
Well, no sh*t. The back tire is gone.

The reason why I thought it was the motorcycle and my fault was because of how embarrassing it is to ride it.

Okay, first of all, I prefer quiet stuff. A.K.A. I do not want to attract attention.

And the motorcycle that I borrowed from a friend happens to be modified on the engine side, or maybe the muffler?

Ah yes, the muffler was loud. Like a whole block loud.
There is no safe way to ride a motorcycle. You will eventually crash.

Yes, all stock mufflers are quiet, so tis modified/after sales muffler.

The acceleration must be fast too, if you say he tinkered with the engine.

Well, any case, those are my advices on how to avoid accidents. Ngl, I only had two motorcycle accidents; one in 2017, where a guy suddenly crossed the highway without looking around (and cracked my knee cap) and that time in 2022 I had to avoid a jeepney about to hit me.

Oh, that's the same amount of accidents I have when riding a motorcycle too.

Let's see, uhm...

Crashed a road block in the middle of a night after passing by a car with its headlight blinding my eyes.

And this one.

Also, how are you?

Me? Well, I can walk fine now. And I'm a defensive driver; takes lotsa guts than aggro ones, see?

Still driving a Mitsubishi SUV and the Suzuki Raider J motorcycle.
