Better place to host Images for image embed links?

Sighing real hard today after realizing that yet another outage is going on with the backup place where I've tried to hotlink images. In this case it is just server maintenance, but it lasts for an entire day if not slightly longer. Cant use Archive org because they are being targeted and expect to be offline for another month or so. Don't want to rely on Post Image if this server maintenance thing turns into an every-day thing (not sure if it is yet).

I don't use Pintrest because, well, Pintrest. Seems like every time I migrate these files somewhere, something comes in and knocks them out. It's kind of unfair. Maybe just bad luck this month.

I know I could avoid all of these problems if I just hosted them on my own specific server, but I don't know the first thing about actually making one and getting it to work that way.

Coinsh used to be here, but it died. Use lainsafe until someone makes another coinsh instance. Another option is ttm.sh (no IPFS integration, files remain for 30 to 365 days depending on their size). Keep in mind those hosts can store files for a long time. If you need fast file deletion, cockfile is your best bet.

imgur's probably the standard, but don't expect the image to last there for more than a couple of months. If it's a short-term upload, then it should be fine though

Sounds like there is no perfect one-size-fits-all solution. Guess people including me will have to be patient for when servers want to take a dump for a day.
Though in other news, Archive Org has finally returned. Not sure for how long.

If you have OneDrive (if you have office, you have OneDrive) you can use that. I use that. There's a simple option to get the 'embed' link off any picture in your library. So ... er ... be careful which picture you choose, knowwhatI'msaying?

Interesting, though I don't have nor use OneDrive

I discovered https://catbox.moe/ about half a year ago and have been using that ever since. Free, clean, and simple. Haven't run into any issues with it as of yet. It does have a 200mb file size limit, but really, who's uploading images that are over 200mb? NASA?

Looks like a good alternative. If Internet Archive goes down again, I will try catbox.
Thanks for sharing.

8mb and 200mb are a teensy bit different, I'd say. :blob_happy: That 200 isn't the max you can upload, it's the max per file.
:blob_catflip: I was duped into exposing my stupidity!!!

But I went through my art files and there are images that go over 200MB. They are a full color webtoon stripe (half a chapter according to webtoon standard). :blob_sir: I'll try catbox. I didn't know that Imgur deletes their files after a certain period.
