I'm not an author but i appreciate authors because some genres genuinely require more knowledge, research and complexity to write about.
Am reading a novel about a forensic doctor, the amount of knowledge in that book is staggering.... writing about all the things you can imagine involving solving cases etc is hard.Plausible sci-fi: especially space exploration, requires a lot of research and at least a basic understanding of physics and other mathematical subjects.
True crime: requires knowledge of laws and legal procedures.
Whatever i read about sci-fi that's the impression i get,you especially have to hook up the readers with those things involving space, exploration etc.Sci-fi
Not only you have to make sht up. You also have to make it make sense from a scientific perspective.
Yeah mystery is way hard trying to keep everything together.I was going to write sci-fi because I don't really know science stuff (thats why I write historicals lol) but THEN I remembered that mysteries exists.
Writing a good mystery is so impossibly hard, between all the red herrings, false leads, character stereotypes, etc. It's probably why Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie are so well remembered
I can do this easily if I decided to write my autobiographyCringe Comedy.
Yikes i hate novels involving comedy, don't know why.Cringe Comedy.
?You should change yah name to cringe zero then.I can do this easily if I decided to write my autobiography
Not really, as a somewhat true crime fan I know that such a thing is not important if you get the basics right.True crime: requires knowledge of laws and legal procedures.
Well most Cultivation are hogwash maybe that's why they attract readers with that bullshit which you know ain't real it mushed jargos.Mythos.
If you want to BS me with chinese, roman and greek gods, make sure it is 99% fun truth with 1% of the author's cringeshit.
Kind of why I hated SH works with mythos. If you want to write a fucky porno and want to make it more pompous, don't just throw in some fancyass god name and say "oh look, the garbo porno has plot because god"
Very biased on my side also, body tempering/ cultivation jargos that sounds awesome even if they are complete hogwash when one pauses to think. Don't say qi training (练气) while meditating on the lotus postion (打坐), say you are sitting with five hearts towards the heavens (五心朝天) and absorbing in cosmic energy (吐纳元气).
Fyi, five hearts towards the heavens is lotus position and absorbing cosmic energy is qi training. Synonyms are fantastic if you can make it sound more complex than it is.
I agree with you,it easy atleast to write brutal scenes in horror but writing about scary, tense and thrilling scenes is hard. Not really, as a somewhat true crime fan I know that such a thing is not important if you get the basics right.
You don't even need really sociology or psychology knowledge because you can just say it was a sociopath/psychopath. Take this with a grain of salt because I developed a distrust with most of the genre.
Horror
Writing scary thinghs is hard, yes everybody can write brutal stuff on a cosmic to neighborhood level, but that won't be scary if you can't control the emotions of the audience. Romance/Comedy rely too on emotionally controlling the audience, but it is far easier to make somebody laugh than giving them existential dread.
Horror is about nothing but emotions.
Really?.You know what's hard to write? A book that you'll be proud of writing.
