After posting my magical girl novel on RR I decided to just make a poll in celebration for reaching the 10th chapter tomorrow. This will not be common as the next time I’m doing anything like this is the 100th chapter… and I won’t be going through the trouble of posting a 100 chapters here until the novel is completed.
Basically just checking if it’s worth the effort.
My novel’s a bit of an oddball.
It’s called ‘The One Being Protected [Magical Girl Urban Fantasy]’.
The reason for my hesitation is simple.
People tend to dislike stories that have ‘meta’ in general and I’ve previously been on the end of a lot of negativity because of it. The story in question isn’t even in a Magical Girl’s perspective. She is a companion in the story.
The REAL premise is that Loki, the god of mischief, has distorted causality for the second time and is hunted by ‘The One Above All’. A man who isn’t tethered to any myth and is the source of all Mana throughout the universe.
He is telling this story because even this entity cannot find the protagonist of the story through his omniscience. So it becomes ambiguous whether the story being told is a lie to survive or real history. Loki speaks about his apostle.
Someone who ‘apparently’ saved Earth.
Narrating the tale of having given his time regression powers (with no real disadvantage if used correctly) to a failed protector of a magical girl. That, and he turned him into a girl just to mess with him. Wanting him to stay safe.
Of course, the protagonist chooses the hard road to save people rather than wisely exiting the story or reliving his best moments forever. Loki is so morally twisted that he probably wouldn’t have minded the MC joining the dark side.
Sounds good on paper but there is a slow burn that will happen early on to really get the story going. Introducing characters and setting the stage properly. Every regression taken seriously no matter how ‘ruined’ it is in his perspective.
I’m just gonna throw my main character for the sequel in the main cast too.
Not sure if anyone would appreciate that kind of story though. It is no ORV and the novel will be narrated by Loki from beginning to end. Knowing the ending might also be a bit anticlimactic.
Poll will only last a week and no take backs.
