The article and the first 20 or so comments (when I stopped wading through them) are all from 2017 (and I vaguely recall hearing the story back then). I think they lightened up their policy since.

This article is from 2017, written by the guy who owns the site and is full of ads from top to bottom.

99.9% sure this is clickbait garbage for engagement to the site
It was the only non-reddit one I could find. I was I yrigued by whether it was true due to a discussion about it on Tapas.

Also, after reading it and checking other sources, all the sources from it are just claims on twitter and reddit. It could've been anything, I think it's misleading and huge stretch to say it's specifically for any reason at all. It's almost been a decade later, and something like that would've been huge

That's why I was asking for thoughts on the claim.

Not a shocker for me. Google collects and manipulates data on the daily and thinks they are God.
The fact that they do not have a Contact/Support mode should say enough. I know that I along with many dislike Google primarily out of being privacy enthusiasts, but that isn't the only issue Google/services has going for them.

I will suggest another alternative that is helpful to some, not all, but some: Libre Office.
Not a 100% carbon copy of MS word, and it has some issues and bugs, but for a few people it can absolutely replace MS word and Google Docs in a single day. No, this isn't sponsored.

I wouldn't put it past them. Google is a globalist corp, the kind that would do well in a cyberpunk apocalypse where everyone is destitute and desperate. Fk google and their free keylogging software. They literally scrape everything you write to train the very AI that will be policing us all in the near future.
