I have always found these types of endless suffering to be extremely poetic...

When plot came back full-circle, I almost always loved it!
>w>
<w<

I personally don't like such plots, since it means they will never have a happy ending and will always suffer, no matter how many lives they live.
'-'
Then again, I'm not a huge fan of the tragedy genre as a whole since I want to escape from bad endings of the real world.
However, that doesn't mean I don't appreciate intriguing plots if it's done right.

*absolutely hates Romeo and Juliet*

So...if you end up going down the full tragedy route where it's just constant suffering with no happiness at all, then I'll probably end up losing interest by the end.
'-'
No offence.

I think one of the reasons for my dislike of tragedy is the emptiness I end up experiencing afterwards.
Kakumeiki Valvrave - an anime - was a tragedy, even when there was a pseudo-happy ending...
The plot was intriguing but it just got too much with the suffering and sadness...

...I feel I've gone off on a tangent and rambled without making sense, nor remembering what I was initially wanting to say...
orz

Anyway, I'm currently enjoying your characters' storyline but I can't guarantee that in the future.
Apologies in advance.

I've always been a believer of 'no tragedy if there is no happiness'. So, if there is a tragedy, then there is happiness. The ending... I don't know, I haven't really planned everything that far, but for now, I think it'll be bittersweet.

After all, constant suffering has no meaning, when the characters and the readers got numbed at it. You have to keep healing and hurting, for maximum effect!

Sorry, my S is showing again :blob_happy:

And yet you dislike Unlimited Blade Works despite Archer's suffering :blob_hide:
I dislike Fate the original because I disliked how plot-armour heavy it is... Fate/Zero is still the best Fate for me, giving the no clear protagonist, no clear antagonist, clear good and clear bad.

As long as the ending won't be tragic, then okay.

Mhm~ I have very similar feelings, although I think for me my preference is that suffering has to have purpose or meaning.

Endless suffering (at least IMO), borders on no meaning, so it doesn't carry the same weight for me.

Okarin getting boiled in a witch's cauldron for no reason has no meaning -- and to me it becomes pointless.

Okarin tied up by an evil villain and thrown into a boiling cauldron -- also has no meaning (in my opinion). It's kind of just pointless gore.

Okarin choosing to get into a boiling cauldron for a specific personal goal -- does have meaning, and does carry weight (at least for me).

As for tragic endings, I like them as long as it carries a powerful message and has a lot of meaning.

If it's a bunch of characters dying for no reason other than the fact that the author just wanted to kill them off, then :blob_hmph:

This is my main theme about literally everything I loved! It can be anything, as long as it had meanings.

It is also why I loved tragedy, as in tragedy genre, not the misuse one that we usually assigned them to any story that good characters died. I felt like tragic ending resonated much heavier with more powerful messages than a good ending; ie; they lost something, they did not go back to the same place as they were, they experienced things and lost things.

As for endless suffering, I only found them to be poetic when there is a presence of Hope. Take one of my one-shots, I have my couple chose between ending the cycle and continuing it, and in the end, they chose to continue, all for that miniature speck of hope, that maybe, just maybe, they would finally meet a happy ending.

Mhm~ For me, I'm picky about the themes that I like!

There's a very specific set of themes that I like, and not many of them are particularly compatible for torture or something.

On the other hand (to use one my general chat threads an example), I really like non-conventional relationships, and will absolutely pursue a bad relationship to see what little shiny parts of it I can cling to.

But that's really on a personal preference for something that I like, and I don't really expect many other people to also like it.

Also, I'm free now so @ohko you can fill me in with the Fuyu Machi region so that I might help put up some quests!
@Bochi wrote everything! I have no idea what's happening :blob_happy: :blob_happy: :blob_happy: :blob_happy: :blob_happy: :blob_happy:
:blob_hide::blob_hide::blob_hide::blob_hide::blob_hide: Although personally I would love to see more D rank suffering. I want to see dead allies! Despair! Failed quests!

( I also briefly thought about for some time about whether certain quests should require X prerequesite quest to be failed at least once to do )
