When I consume my enemies, is it really cannibalism? For that implies I considered them human to begin with.

Such is the topic of our conversation today.
The mentor of my main character is the Representation of Gluttony. His cultivation technique involves devouring and storing nutrients for later use. Typically, they are consumed at a steady pace to maintain his form, but he could burn those 'calories' for heightened combat performance, so in battle, it is almost guaranteed that he'll burn a million calories in a few minutes.

That being said, storing ultra-dense nutrients in a storage organ is not efficient. There's an inherent flaw in that very design, so to complete his 'combat system', he developed a habit of consuming his dead enemies to replenish his burnt calories.

Now, the million dollar question is, is it really cannibalism if he consume his enemies? As a product of eugenics, he does not consider the enemy forces being the same race as him.

If I say you’re a duck, will you become one? The concept of cannibalism is eating someone of your own kind. It has nothing to do if you see them as chicken fillet or anything. Just accept it and move on since there are worse stuff a cultivator can do (like turn your niece into a sword because she has a ‘Sword Physique’ or something). Not even lawful good MCs are judged for it since enemies are 9/10 of the time just horrid human beings.

@Sola-sama you can increase said denial by playing the two games call "dimming the spotlight on your MC" and "finding faults for your MC target"

The former is a simple cut to the other scene whenever your MC needs a nibble and keep the eating as less descriptive as possible.

The latter involves saying that the bad guys are even worse. If MC is a cannibal, then the bad guys are rapists who rape their victims first, kill them gruesomely, then rape the corpse while eating them.

If MC is a rapist, then the bad guys are rapists who would go after children, elderly and the dead, and maybe eat the dead bodies while they are at it.

Wipe the dirt off MC and smear as much shit on the bad guys. Easy for the reader to know who to root and who to boo.

A polar bear eating a grizzly bear's cub is cannibalism. And yes, that was a thing once. Bears are cannibals. Bears are fuckin terrifying.

You can cross-breed Grizzly and Polar bears. It takes work and is one fucked up result, but it works. I believe the result was sterile, however. So plans on repopulating via the method were doomed to failure.

Still counts as cannibalism.
