The thirty years war was a brutal, good to know some else knows about..it in my top brutal medieval war considering how many civilians died due to mercenaries pillage, plague and actions of sweden and denmark rulers etcYeah, this is the trigger, though it is said that the German Empire has already plans for war against the Russian Empire sometime around in 1914-1915, before the Russians modernize and present a threat to the then economically-powerful Germans.
Though, if you'll ask me, another watershed moment in history is the Defenestration of Prague in 1618, which eventually triggered the Thirty Years' War, and resulted in the Treaty of Westphalia. That war did trigger the people to ask, and eventually criticize, the 'divine mandate' of monarchs in Europe.
Another case would be the Sack of Baghdad during the Mongol Conquest of the Abbasid Caliphate. The fateful event was so traumatic, it got embedded in the memories of Muslims then and now (the end of the Islamic Golden Age). It is said that this event became one of the reasons for the 'conservative radicalism' of some of the extremists that lasted today.

Just to be fair, the others also had plans for war even before 1914. And technically, Austria's incompetence started the war. But you are right, it was just the trigger. Everyone was ready for that war.Yeah, this is the trigger, though it is said that the German Empire has already plans for war against the Russian Empire sometime around in 1914-1915, before the Russians modernize and present a threat to the then economically-powerful Germans.

Thanks for giving a movie to watch. The incident that the movie "war games" was based off of.
The computer they used to operate the ICBM screening system was loaded with a simulation for a fake attack. They used it to test the software. However, some way or another it got activated and norad was showing a massive nuclear strike coming in. With not much time to respond, the US president called Khrushchev instead of launching a massive counter attack, trusting that the USSR was being honest when they said that there was no massive first strike going on.
I guess that time the countries where looking for a little of bit to start war considering the tension that was allover even before the assassinationJust to be fair, the others also had plans for war even before 1914. And technically, Austria's incompetence started the war. But you are right, it was just the trigger. Everyone was ready for that war.
I love reading about history. It's the subject I really wanted to teach, not cooking, repairing PCs, and mechanical drafting. The thirty years war was a brutal, good to know some else knows about..it in my top brutal medieval war considering how many civilians died due to mercenaries pillage, plague and actions of sweden and denmark rulers etc
WW1 greatly shaped the modern world today.Just to be fair, the others also had plans for war even before 1914. And technically, Austria's incompetence started the war. But you are right, it was just the trigger. Everyone was ready for that war.
Yeah it will be dwarfed by today standards, but most medieval wars where not good things towards the population due to the grim and brutal means of soldiers to civilians. This war escalated when Fredrick the 5th hired that mercenary king and christian the IV and Albrecht von wallenstein joined without any regards to logistics which caused the mercenaries to be let loosed on people.I love reading about history. It's the subject I really wanted to teach, not cooking, repairing PCs, and mechanical drafting.
Also, Thirty Years' War is a Renaissance-era conflict. Up to that time, the known world has yet to witness a war of such destructive scale (though by today's standards, it will be dwarfed).
WW1 greatly shaped the modern world today.
Yeah the extinction level weapons, they are there to intimidate other countries around the worldThe creation of nuclear weapons
It's not that critical, but it does pack a punch. The creation of nuclear weapons
