Why do people delete their profiles?

I'm about to delete mine, but i was wondering why other people would delete their profiles, and whether or not the average author on here would consider doing that.

I seriously considered doing it before. But I wanted to make sure I wouldn't regret it first, so I sat on the idea for a week or two. I decided it wasn't worth it. What I'd lose was worse than how I felt at the time, and I probably would have spiraled further. I did delete my stories, but I started re-uploading them again.

You can delete them without removing your profile. I'd keep it, and you can always rebrand. Changing your name and avatar are valid options if you don't like them.

You can delete them without removing your profile. I'd keep it, and you can always rebrand. Changing your name and avatar are valid options if you don't like them.

You know, around 2-3 months ago, my family and I visited grandma's house far from our home. She lives in a big city, and it took us nearly an entire day to get there. It was the last few days of the fasting month, and we were close to the festival by the end of it.

One day, in my grandma's house, my uncle decided that it was a good time to tell the entire family that I was writing novels and fanfics.

I deleted my first account here in reaction to a death threat that was sent to me before. (Not here, but a good friend suggested to delete my 'online presence' and cool down.)

Unless your personal information is doxxed onto an account I dont understand the reasoning behind deleting an account in the first place. Seems like a knee jerk reaction to otherwise mostly managable problems. If its over hate or "cyber bullying" I simply believe you just aren't the kind of person who should put yourself into online public spaces in the first place.

Only other reason I can imagine is if irl friends/family found your fetish novel then yea, run for the hills.
