Why are anime fandoms so toxic?

I forgot which soccer fandom or fans are dangerous....

Football ultras in general are dangerous, worst case they range from rowdies that burn down stadium to show of strength to full blown separatist whose movement was a bloody Mary.

For a fun fact, there is reason Barcelona is called 'more than a Club'

It's more on the mainstream ones because they're filled to the brim with tourists. The smaller communities are one ones who are really wholesome.

Example: Girls und Panzer fans and the province of Oorai once both raised enough money so that a tank collection in finland can get a roof over their vehicles.

Here are some fandoms to avoid like the plague and why:

My Hero Academia: Cringy fans, crazy shipping people (literally threatened to kill a kid for shipping a boy and a girl), Tourists and lots of them, and those cringy fanfics, did I mention Cringy and dumb fans that will go to any lengths (even gaslighting other people even though the creator said nobody in the show is gay) to get their headcanon noticed by anybody.

Jijutsu Kaisen: Same as My hero but a little less crazy

DBZ: Let's face it, there's always that one guy who says, "can he beat goku tho?" and will literally pull out shit to try and make goku the strongest character in fiction.

Genshin Impact: Specifically the terminally online twitter people. While technically not an anime, I have to mention it because of the "hurr durr character too light skinned need black" and those art "fixers" who turn a great character design, change the skin tone to black, add a goatee (even though they're female) and call it "fixed". I'm willing to bet my life savings that 90% of the people who complain and fix art don't even play the game. Like MHA, they will actively try to cancel a voice actor because "He/She's vOiCe DoEsT FiT ThE ChARacTer" reffering to black characters should only be voiced by black people but don't bat an eye if its reversed.

Hololive fandom is indeed hell, but Rushia is certainly not the brightest vtuber either.. have you heard of the slightest thing she did to Mafumafu? It's crazy.
Mafumafu is no less crazy than she is. They were perfect for each other.

The point is, before anything was even known or any details leaked, there were already crusades against her, only because there was a dude involved. Her supposed fanboys didn't even wait for explanation, they jumped to rip her apart. This is insane. It's irrelevant what happened next, because they already showed their true face.

Besides, this is the exact reaction any of the talents is rumored to have a boyfriend or dating someone. It's not even Rushia alone. She's just the most extreme.

Though for gura, i knew this one. But thought it was more of "internet cyberbullying(twitter)"'s fault case + slight part bc of her fandom + overwork. :sweating_profusely:
I remember, a few months ago, Gura tried coming back from a very long hiatus (again) and what she was welcomed with was a chat full of accusations and blaming her for not streaming. Even though, she mentioned time and time again that she's not feeling well mentally. I don't blame her. How can you feel good and excited for work, when every time you come up with something fun to do, your idea is being shot down without any serious reason. And on top of that, your fans act like they own you.

Hololive is a management hell. A lot of EN talks about it. The most open is probably Kiara, who mentioned, that there was a point where even she started considering graduation, because she couldn't deal with it anymore.

Kronii also mentioned not having any support from her old manager and having to take care of most of the things herself. They can't even play the games they want anymore, because the management arbitrary decides who can play what, when and for how long. That's why they barely finish any games anymore. I wonder how many virgins Biboo had to sacrifice to be able to playthrough entire Elden Ring DLC :blob_blank:

Hell.

Didnt really want to mention+forgot, but Rushia fandom are indeed have the right to "turn around" / be angry against her.
If i'm a yandere (but with a good CPUbrain), hers is a unheathly lvl of human-emotional-craziness.
Ex : Its like in urban CN, its normal to be angry, if hearing their star is taking drugs and/or inviting fans for "private meetings" (yep common thing)
I mean, Rusha is crazy af, there's no doubt about that. But I believe everyone deserves a chance to tell their side of the story before being thrown to the sharks.

I believe that if you're loyal to someone, then you're going to stand by them when they are attacked by angry mob. If they are wrong then you can have a talk afterwards, in private. Not jumping in and throwing stones at them with the rest of the mob or sitting quiet and afraid of being caught in a crossfire too. But I'm weird, so maybe my view on this is also weird :sweating_profusely:

Meanwhile Ina.
Quite sure lot of Majority of Takodachis are quite kind or accept happily what she says. But indeed true that will be lot of different kinds of not-good ones.
Ina feels quite personal to me, because I was watching her pretty much right from her debut. I really like her content and I think she's great in general. But around 2 years ago, her chat just became unbearable. She couldn't say anything without a bunch of creeps coming in and turning everything into a horny innuendo. I like dirty jokes and even for me it was too much.

There were so many times she asked and nobody listened. She made a separate tag for the horny posting and people were still adding the SFW tag anyways. And they knew what they were doing, because I've seen them in the comment section claiming they don't care what she wants, because they have a right to add any tags they want. Peak disrespect for the talent. It became so bad, that I didn't want to watch her streams anymore.

I like Hololive VTubers, that's why I'm not going to pretend that everything is great. This is how things fall apart.

Also, I hope I don't sound like I'm yelling or anything :sweating_profusely: If I sound harsh, then it's because it's something I'm passionate about, so I get more heated  Just in case, I want to apologize for sounding like a bad Daikon prick (シ_ _)シ gomenne

Dont worry daikon, i can understand your anger (and im similar about stuff-liking-passionate + without talking about lack of support for my "own drama vs other users")

That was quite informative, and i feel bad for you, especially as you mentioned you followed Ina and her streams.:blob_teary::blob_pat_sad::blob_neutral:

damn, didnt expect it was THAT bad.
(as for kronii i indeed remember the "i kept asking to be allowed to play this games" videos once popping up in recommendations)
as for tagging, yes for some reason (and westerns too), users ALL SUCK AT FKING TAGGING STUFF. Its like they take pleasure people have shitty time finding stuff on their own. Like pixiv, "SHOULDNT YOU TAG BETTER SO YOU GET MORE VIEWS????? THE HECK?????" (some are clearly a certain topic but like the big tag about it is missing)

-----2ndpost-------
As for gura, i hope she will get better (healed mentally) and wont quit, and will find a way to mute chat. But unlikely (bc of management).
I liked a video of hers, where she vacuumed without speaking THE WHOLE SAND ROOM OF LUIGI MANSION (DESERT) for hour(s). ASMR (chat laughing and enjoying wholesomely)
similar to Suisei doing plate off without speaking.

Why do women like to overtag but men dont i wonder =_="
on 69shu CNs
the female protag CNs are bunch of tags, but sure some male protag are tagged but some have none OR MISSING IMPORTANT FITTING ONES. (and a pain to find back)

But i feel its back to the old logic (that i seen in the mangaka CNs) : "Women are more prone to pay attention to details and its why Fullmetal alchemist with a female creator, did a masterpiece with how well portrayed the psychology of each and everyone of the characters in such precision very well done. And details in the backgrounds that fit and remiscice about WW2 and the reirch.

Yeah, I got into the whole VTuber rabbit hole around the time Myth debuted. Rabbit hole literally, because I started with Pekora :blob_happy: Then started watching Ina and really enjoyed how calm her streams are.

I think some JP also talked about it, but can't remember who specifically anymore, because there's been mentions of that for like a year or something. I think it could've been Marine, but not certain :blob_hmm_two:

Tags are hell on most art stuff. Literally anything you can think of, even when it doesn't even relate to the stuff :blob_blank: though, I can't help but partially blame the algorithms for it. They keep changing the way posts are shown and so people are just yoloing every tag in existence in their posts, in hopes at least some of the people will get to see it.

Yeah, I feel really bad for Gura. She really is good at what she's doing, so it's really sad to see someone like this losing their spark :blob_pat_sad:

:blob_hmm_two: perhaps there's something about the attention to details. Never thought about this, so I don't have any opinions :blob_hmm_two:

No, speaking in general.
Go on pixiv.
Some art.
Clearly got a theme or something.
But tagging is utterly lacking.

Like : BRUH YOU WORKED LIKE A MADMAN TO DRAW THIS EPIC LINGERIE, WHY is there only [Girl / IP / Name character] AND THAT IS IT?????
or heck, some put "feet" tag, despite feet are well done sure but its like the 3rd good point of the art !!!! THE HELL ????? CLEARLY

Seriously i wonder how their parents taught them.
CLEARLY the memes mention JP being meticuslous, but for some reason, its like they grew up in a world without labels, as if milk bottle and orange juice, are randomly no labal in fridge or something.

Its like a trend or something !
All lately pixiv art, they all rush to simply tag IP / name. DONE.

Should try to read or watch fullmetal alchemist anime to understand xD

Let me introduce you to my country from 2008 to now.

and that it why im thankful soccer has never been huge in my country (outside the world cup) and that when soccer began to become medium (it's not popular enough to be big) and the fan groups (well, one fan group in particular) decided they wanted to try and emulate the path to hooliganism and ultra-ism the governing body (and the clubs) came down like 100 ton of bricks and crushed the attempts hard.

Example: Girls und Panzer fans and the province of Oorai once both raised enough money so that a tank collection in finland can get a roof over their vehicles.
GuP fandom is probably the only fandom i can say i'm actually fully in because it's just wholesome.

FYI for those curious, this is what they're talking about: https://www.reddit.com/r/GIRLSundPANZER/comments/xeveq4

I really loved girls and panzer,i dream of waking for something new .... anyway i have bad beef with MHA mobs, this group is the shipping nightmare of characters i don't even know what to say about them...they are trash fandom

I don't think anime fandoms are that out of the ordinary as far as things go. There are definitely more tame fandoms, like I'm sure the crocheting community is much tamer. However at the same time as others have mentioned there are plenty of things with much crazier fandoms too. For the most part the bigger a fandom grows the more likely it is to find crazy parts of them. Of course some niche fandoms draw in crazies, but in general at a certain point of growth by sheer numbers a fandom is almost guaranteed to have a significant amount of crazies included. That's probably why the most toxic fandoms are more commonly the larger ones.

An element that does have an effect is the opportunity for drama. This is why celebrity fandoms tend to go so crazy or the streamer/youtuber/vtuber communities/fandom(which is pretty much just e-celebs). The moment you have people rooting for someone and there are interpersonal relationships there is bound to be drama and crazies are attracted to drama like flies to...

Yeah as some said earlier, those main stream fandoms are the traffic of crazies which now is like a norm

Your wording is so fluent that I can't even discern half of it.

Honestly, any fandom large enough will have its bad apples and its loud minority. Used to be an avid Warthunder and WoT/WoW player, but the community turned toxic so quickly that it just became a chore to queue a game. When you got historical stuff mixed in, especially WWII-era stuff, you tend to draw certain extremist groups, and, well, yea...

Same goes for most online personalities too. Streamers, YTers, Vtubers... Best just ignore them and enjoy what you like

Anime fandoms are poison
As opposed to movie fandoms, video game fandoms, comic fandoms, novel fandoms, sport fandoms, car culture, gun enthusiasts, fans of musicians, etc.?

Clearly, only anime fans are toxic and not everyone from every single fandom who is bored and desired drama.
