Scenario: It is a grimdark world with monstrous invaders, and society has collapsed but.... some parts of the internet still work. Through sheer luck mixed with boredom and nerdiness, the... forum you frequented discovered that theoretically, all humans will inevitably awaken metahuman powers due to dimensional rifts and particles.

Some exercises/activities can speed up the process and some people on the forum have already awakened superpowers.

You are currently in a group of survivors carefully hiding and salvaging, sharing what you find with the group and living day by day.

You yourself have not yet awakened any power but you can feel a vague nudging in the body like some form of metamorphosis is at hand.

The question is do you share the knowledge about this to your fellow survivors? The ferocity of these powers is unpredictable and could be life-saving or inconsequential.

Do you share the knowledge so more survivors get powers quicker?

But know that if you are the only one with power, the leadership and group dynamics will at least for a moment under your control. And you have no way of knowing how your fellow survivors will behave once they have superpowers.

Being secretive sounds like a recipe for disaster. Who's to say someone won't awaken to a broken power while under your rule and they incite a rebellion?

Honestly, both options don't sound all that good. The first has a great risk of making yourself a target, while the second one seems fine at first, but might heavily backfire later on, either because the people could discover and turn their back on you or something very bad might happen that could have been prevented with more superpowered people.

The best solution would probably be to try and provide the information anonymously, though it might change depending on the details.

If you'll get powers soon anyway, and the situation seems relatively stable, then don't share anything yet. But as soon as you get powers, share with the group.

Seems that way you avoid most of the tensions.

Did I find myself in a group where I trust literally no one? If so, I am going to keep quiet until I have powers and then explain what I know with the plausible deniability of “this sounded like tinfoil hat bullshit and I didn’t want you guys to think I was insane.”

If there is anyone in the group I have a good reason to trust, I will find an opportunity to tell them. It’s a bit risky, but less than just running my mouth. I will tell anyone that seems trustworthy to me, and slowly lower my standards as my position becomes more secure. Always operate on the assumption that it will get out, so never lie about it if confronted. We are maneuvering for a good position when things escalate, not trying to make an empire built on deception.

If I want to execute this correctly, I will make the characters in a scenario in a near-death situation to awaken their power or something like that.

Wait for a bit until you’re sure you’ll get yours first, and share it. Unless you’re in a somewhat urgent situation
