I have that issue, but not with smut, with male mc's. I never tried to get an accurate number, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if two out of three books with women on the cover had a male mc. It's not that bad on Scribble, but it's so common on RoyalRoad in particular that I just stopped checking them at some point.

I'm a real big fan of light worldbuilders or dungeon core novels.
And in this regard, apparently Tiny Dungeon is really good. I didn't read it, but I had it recommended to me.

I recommend you use the tags on Royalroad to see whether they have a female lead or not. Also you can click on that tag to find more female mc stories

How should those of us who are actually writing stories with female main characters properly demarcate our stories? In general, I've found a slightly different heuristic. Woman dressed modestly = female MC; woman dressed immodestly / sexualized = male MC Harem Lit.

But obviously, there *are* exceptions.

That seems like it's fairly accurate, but unfortunately I've seen a lot which didn't follow that rule. I'll keep an eye though, see if it helps.

I don't think there's any good way to do this. It seems more an issue with other authors making covers that don't properly represent the story. In theory, it's possible to agree on some sign or specific element, but it feels like too much of a hassle for uncertain and easily undermined results.

If you want dungeon stuff and hate smut, then my story might be a good fit! It's about a smart spider in a dungeon filled with much stronger but dumb enemies, and the spider has to learn to survive and grow to the top.

Posts like these make me consider toning down the sexual scenes when I finally upload to Royal Road. It would just be a shame to lose the character development within them.

If you actually want read something good. Read actual books. Like "Demian", best book about gays?
