Before even opening thread, knew the ending would be bad. (didnt read manga but read first early chaps at release)
Well, luckily its not "atrocious death note ending" bad, but in the range of expectation to get the "bitter aftertaste frowning, want to punch author" bad.
And its basically same for any "veteran author". Heck, like assassin classroom. "Oh wow best talent for assassinating? LETS BECOME A TEACH LIKE TENTACLE GUY ! And also do the shittyclasstrope all over again !"
Can't we get a single good ending that makes you go "hmmmmm so good.....i'm happy. *close book*" ?????

True that.

Its like asmongold being disliked/hated, people disliking despite never watching NOT EVEN 1 SECOND of the "funny clips" from editor, and if some people watch 2-3 good clips, there wouldnt be so much hate. Or dislike him simply by rumors (the blood tooth and the rat thingy, and roach thing on shoulder = pretty sure it happened to a lot of people, so its not worth mocking him for it, and dude is like a millionaire). And some people simply "bandwagoning" or hating him bc of "hating popular-stuff syndrome" or listen to rumors from others, etc etc
Rave master, beginning is indeed quite ultra trash.
Both art and plot.
Even the soon after plot of the blacksmith family, is meh/forced.
But later on, the plot goes quite deep. Mushoku style deep. The kind of "save the world" deep but without looking out of context. Dark deep, the kind that churn the stomach, but not feeling forced, and 100% immersive, like other old masterpieces (DBZ, Toriko, Bleach, etc). While also doing "wholesome/happy" moments, where you feel like a child happily from deep down the heart.
Or sad romance parts, where you cry for the characters, feeling the unfairness of life, but you cant do anything about it. Thing that nowadays series dont, as there is no longer any tragedy.
Meanwhile in Fairy Tail, he learned from his mistakes from Rave master and did quite a successful "hot blooded" work.
But again, like for any food, some can not appreciate it, or sometimes the food is not well cooked, or sometimes its tiring to eat same food.

And well. It was in Shonen magazine.
And unlike now where there is a giga plethora of works. Rave master and Fairy Tail, didnt have lot of competitors. Especially for "Western Global audience"
For me, its more "Death note" and "Jojo" that made me wonder "How the heck this shit is so popular????" until i tried then.
Though for Death note, i agree with chinese users (like jp users + global) that the series is shit after L is ded.
Meanwhile jojo, only the sahara diamond DIO part is good. Read some other JOJO sequels, good but meh good, decent.
Its AOT that make me facepalm, bc audience simply liked this shit bc there was a vaccuum in HOTBLOOD series, with the end of NARUTO BLEACH.
