Would it be out of character to have a lapse in judgement? Even if it was a mistake. Would the readers understand?
What you are talking about is someone of weak moral character. Good is usually difficult. Being evil is usually easy. If it was the other way around, more people would be good.Would it be out of character to have a lapse in judgement? Even if it was a mistake. Would the readers understand?
I think for morals specifically, have them meet/clash with someone who follows the same moral logic but takes it to extreme/bad ends, making them have to grapple with wether their moral foundation is correct or not. Or have someone with an opposing moral compass and they have to team up for something.Would it be out of character to have a lapse in judgement? Even if it was a mistake. The amount of dumb comments I read from the Re:Zero webnovels who criticize the story using some of the dumbest logic imaginable and then admitting that they just skim through all the chapters made me realize how dumb the majority of readers can be.No, it wouldn't if it still fits the character. But statistics prove that there are more dumb readers than writers.
As expected from Subaru-kun.The amount of dumb comments I read from the Re:Zero webnovels who criticize the story using some of the dumbest logic imaginable and then admitting that they just skim through all the chapters made me realize how dumb the majority of readers can be.
