"...It's as I feared. She's became a lost cause getting marooned in another world. Well, no matter. I was actually expecting to have to look around more, but it seems I struck gold with the first establishment. So, where is that moron now?"

Aquamarine started on the second glass, chugging greedily. Her halo grew brighter.
"Ah if you want a third refill can you help me gather more water for the water tank?" I spoke while looking at the rapidly emptying mug "Sister Viscious goes on lots of quests and travels around alot, it might be a few hours, a few days, or even a week or so before she returns?"

Hearing talk of the person I'd just sent a letter to float into the room I span around to yell out to them. "She should still be in Fuyu Machi as our consultant there on the Guild Masters orders I sent the letter already. I would not recommend going there lightly armoured though."

"You mean, fetch water from the well? Sure, I guess. How did you know I was going to ask for that---Wait, what did you just say?"

Aquamarine puts down the empty glass once again.

"...Oh, f*ck me. She's gone on a doozy and went travelling in her state? Wonderful. Just wonderful. I should just knock her out and drag her off the next time I see her."

"Consultant...oh, my god. This morning could not have gotten any worse. Hunter V. More like Moron V. I knew I shouldn't have bothered coming for her."

Looking annoyed, Aquamarine fires a question back.

"How long to that place, and how do I get there?"

"Classified I know you aren't high enough rank to go there and even if you are a xenos abomination whose death I would greatly prefer I do not want my engagement in that area to be compromised in such a way." I shake my hand as if dismissing her.

I waited until the woman told her how far Fuyu Machi was before I was going to lead her to the water well behind the guild, exclusively property of the guild.

"You're kidding me. I don't have time to be ranking up to learn where that moron went. Every second counts here---it's a life or death matter. Where is she?"

Aquamarine snarls for the first time, her hair coming to life in a disarray around her.

I was a bit worried so I went to ask a senpai adventurer to watch the two in case something happens, of this this senpai adventurer was leisurely taking up the quest of guarding the tavern and to kick out any ruffians who start any brawls. The man just laughed and told me "It's just a little adventurer talk missy, you might be too soft Ahahahaha!" I wanted to pinch him but I wanted to ask that girl to help me secure more water so I just went back near her table and listened quietly.

"Not mine---hers! That moron hasn't had a single drop of her medicine ever since she up and vanished! She needs it to---oh, f*ck me. I'll do it myself."

Aquamarine gets up from her seat, leaving for the entrance.

Early in the morning, the letter was delivered to the adventurer's guild. It contained a report and a jade token carved with ten wings arranged in a circle.

Nobody remembered delivering the letter, but a morning guard did mention seeing a blur of brown-and-white speed into the town, and leave minutes later.
'Things picked up very quickly yesterday. Now that the attack's over, I have the time to send this report. The Shrine Miko has decided to be entirely candid---mostly because I ended up getting dragged in their affairs regardless.

The mountain rests on a leyline, and yesterday we went deep into the tunnels to check on it; the earth vein as the locals called it. No matter. The thing was glowing faintly red, and they all agreed that the vein had only ever glowed blue. Lying on an altar in the same room where the vein was located was this token, which I have attached and sent in along with the report.

Also, I didn't think I'd witness it so soon after arrival, but the barrier's broken. Shattered, gone, whatever you call it. The Azure Dragon saw the intruders before they saw her, thankfully, so we were able to catch them in an ambush.

I reckon about half of the outer rim of the southern part of the forest around the mountain burned down. We evacuated six whole villages whilst having to fight off the invaders, but the number of villagers that got out alive couldn't have been more than three villages worth.

Simply speaking, three whole villages got annihilated in one attack. And they were located right next to Sei's river. Didn't matter. The inferno consumed the houses in a matter of minutes. Whatever it was, it definitely ain't normal fire.

Ah, right. The enemies. I should describe them too, shouldn't I?

First, there's the blue-skinned humanoids I met previously, with a single horn on their heads. Except this time they came in larger numbers, fiercer than before. And here's something---they don't die immediately when you stab them in the heart. Those that took fatal strikes carried on for a short while before toppling.

From what we've seen, the only thing that instantly downs one is to cleave the entire head off, everything above the neck. Or pulverize the whole head, which ain't easy.

There were also three much larger humanoids, about the size of fully grown elephants, I reckon, red, blue and green. Each had two horns on their foreheads instead of one, and I can vouch for the fact that their weapons are definitely enchanted. Even if they weren't I wouldn't have tried to parry regardless. One of the Shogun's guards got in a good cut on a leg joint---I had to snatch him away seconds later before the club splattered him all over the floor.

And finally, the source of the raging fire. A little girl swinging a sword just as large as she was, dressed in red robes. Laughing as she swung her blade around randomly, sending bursts of fire everywhere.

We clashed. Briefly. I'm not ashamed to say that if Sei didn't back me up I wouldn't have been alive to write this report. I don't even remember how long the battle dragged on; at some point the girl and the three large creatures retreated, leaving us to clean up the smaller blue ones.

I can still hear her laughter in my mind, and it unsettles me very much.

Yeah, no doubt about it. Oni. Disaster in humanoid packages. Most of them have bulky frames, but holy. When they want to move fast, they can---you'll need a good horse to even think of outrunning one.

Even now, resting in an inn in the Winter City and looking out of my room on the third floor, I can see it in the distance. And perhaps you from Scribel City will be able to see it as well---locate the mountain from the city walls, and look a few degrees to the left. A slightly smaller mountain by it's lonesome.

And if it's sunny outside now, even better. Because you'll see that the sky above that mountain is a deep shade of purple, and lightning occasionally strikes the peak. Storm clouds are gathering. And the storm's going to hit the Winter City first, at it's strongest.

Having fought in Gelderholm, I can safely say this.

A few hordes of snakes' way easier to fight off in comparison.'

- Signed, V
Circulating this report.

As of now, we have two major threats both to the Southeast.

The first is the Slime Horde, which is nearby.

The second is an Oni Mountain (3 days southeast), where aggressive oni's are attacking Fuyu Machi (5-7 days southeast).

Is it just me, or is this a coincidence?

In either case, there are action plans we need to put into motion:
  • Figure out why the slimes are headed to Scribel City, and if it's possible to redirect them anywhere else.
  • Figure out what the Oni's want. Are they intelligent? What is their goal?
  • Urgent communication to Fuyu Machi's Shogun:
    • Establish communications hotline.
    • Seek coordination between our forces.
    • Intelligence sharing.
    • Negotiable depending on what Fuyu Machi is willing to offer:
      • Direct military support in Fuyu Machi (only if they ask... it's not something we're offering if they don't ask).
      • Branch office in Fuyu Machi (only if they ask for direct military support).
      • Take a hard negotiation stance. Negotiate the best possible deal for Scribel during this time of crisis.
        • We're reluctant to provide adventurers in the direct defense of Fuyu Machi unless it's an extremely favorable deal.
        • Given the geography, it's more advantageous for us to focus on our side of the Oni Mountain since it sits in between Fuyu Machi and Scribel City. It's technically easier for us to focus and fortify on the Northern Front.
        • Willing to consider sending "advisers" to assist with the training of the Beastmen Warriors.
  • Urgent communication with Lizardmen:
    • Since Lizardmen also lie to the South/Southeast, coordinate a plan to deal with both Slime Horde and Oni Mountain.
    • Figure out which Lizardmen tribes are willing to cooperate with this local threat.
    • Seek coordination between our forces.
    • Intelligence sharing.
This is a very dense area of issues in the Southeast of Scribel City, and a lot of factions need to be involved!

A priority here is to understand the Oni better. What exactly do they want? Why are they aggressive right now?

Is there a link with the Slime Horde?

"So what you are essentially saying is... that you some how were able to use these Mana Glowstone's to make yourself a new body"
"Is that what you are trying say?"

I see the other person across from me nod

*sigh

"Hejlikka your really going to make me late for my date and for this..."
"Okay, OKAY here. Just sign these few paper's and your good to go"

I hand over a little stack of papers over to the person

"These pretty much state that you won't harm the guild and you were "MIA" due to actions you couldn't control"
"Give the papers to Hejlikka when your done and we will issue you a new Adventurer Guild ID"
"Good? Good. Okay then were done here. I'm sure you have lots of thing's to do, ever since going missing for a month."
I say, as I start leading the person out of my office

As soon as the person leaves my office, I immediately start rushing to get ready for my date.

"Almost finished just nee.." *Knock knock*
"Yes?"

"Julrik it's me" the voice says

"Come in"

My big sister Hejlikka walks in

"Did everything go fine?" she asks

"The person wasn't telling the whole truth, but I wouldn't blame them. A Marking that strong, I'm still surprised he's still alive"
"Could you hand me my tie."

She does

"Thank you"
"I'm sure he probably has his own reason's, but at least he doesn't seem to be any danger to us right now"

I stop getting ready

"Hejlikka don't blame yourself. Even though you suggested the quest that he went on, it wasn't your fault for what had happened"

"I know...but still" she whispers

"Everything is going to be fine. We will talk about it later"
"Right now though, I have a date waiting for me right now"

As we both exit from my office

"Don't worry Hejlikka everything will be fine."

I look at window and see the setting sun

"Ok I gotta go right now, I will see you later big sis"

I rush towards my hopefully un-late date

*I walk together with Gobo into Tavern for the first time*

I take notice of another person coming out. A young lady quite angry for some reason.

Gobo and I take the nearest empty seats and order something too eat.

I always wondered how it felt too"Eat"

Alias walks into the tavern, and sits next to the goblin and and plant man.

It seemed to him that this was the BigGreen and Gobo he had read about.

A plant based adventurer and pet Goblin, strange.

He was secretly eyeing BigGreen.

Do plant men eat food or photosynthesise?

Drevart went into Tavern while reading one of the latest reports of the Guild. It was given to him by the receptionist when he was submitting his quest report. She said that it's imperative to read and now he was reading a copy while munching on a steamed bun.

"So much in such a small area... Well, anyways I can't involve myself with this. Too dangerous. I guess I'll just stick around with the northern or grass plains quests..."

He sat near the window. The usual stuff. And asked for something warm to eat while thinking on his next course of action

Quest Report - Evaluated

Quest Report - Okarin

It was an ordinary day when a voice called out to Okarin in the streets of Scribel.

"Hey! You! Stop right there! I was looking for you!"

The slime person turned around, and unexpectedly, it was a familiar face.

Sica the Leprechaun.

"You ditched me!" She flat out accused. "As soon as we got back to the city, you ditched me and disappeared! You were supposed to be my tour guide!"

Okarin backpedaled a few feet.

Ahh... right.

A few weeks ago, when Okarin had returned from the Halfwing Federation, they had been unwilling to step inside Scribel City. Okarin had given a lackluster excuse, dumped the task on someone else, and disappeared into the surrounding forest. Of course, the circumstances had changed since then — Vicious had come back — and Okarin overcame their anxieties about the city through the power of love determination. The present Okarin no longer squrimed when adventurer splat'd another innocent little slime in the city streets.

Was it apathy? Desensitization?

Did Okarin no longer care when slimes were beaten to death in front of their eyes?

Perhaps it was numbness.

Pure numbness.

Getting abandoned by Vicious had done quite an amount on Okarin's mental state.

For the better or worse, Okarin was apathetic walking through the streets of Scribel, the murderous city where hundreds of slimes died every day.

Numb to it.

Mhm. Ah, right. It was a Tuesday.

On Tuesdays, there was a sale at marketplace.

Can't forget about the discount sale, right?

Buy one get one free?

+ + +

"I've finally decided." The leprechaun had a frown on her face. "Take me to your king! I need to speak with him!"

"But we don't have a king?"

"Then take me to your almighty ruler of grassy-stuff, slime rocks, and shoddy counterfeit products in this middle-of-nowhere place!"

"Are you talking about the Guild Master? Or perhaps the City Council?"

"It doesn't matter! I must speak to someone important! They must be very important person, you hear me?!"

"Didn't Adsall show you around the City Hall when he gave you your tour?"

"Dunno. All I remember is that he took me out of the city to see pretty stuff and pirates. Arrggg, matey! It was kinda awesome. Oh, and he flirted with me all day. Is that allowed? Technically, I'm a diplomat. I'm an important person, y'know? If you flirt with me, you might drag five whole kingdoms into war!"

"Did you have fun?"

"Yup! I'd like to do it again too! Especially if he pays for dinner!"

"I think that guy might be dead though."

"Wait, what?!"

"Anyway, should I show you to the Guild?"

"Wait! Wait! But that guy~?! What happened to that guy?!"

+ + +

"...And this is the receptionist's desk~" Okarin's unenthusiastic voice droned on.

"*sniff sniff*"

"This is where all those evil bad murderer adventurers dump all their slime cores."

"Oh, and here's the bin for all the goblin ears. Smells kind of bad, right? Makes you wonder when they last cleaned it."

"...This is where Konoha sits... By the way, you should never make her angry..."

"But what about the Guild Master? I need to see your leader so we can discuss something very important!"

Okarin paused for a moment,

They turned around slowly to face the Leprechaun.

"I can't take you to the Guild Master," Okarin spoke flatly.

The girl's eyes widened.

"But I thought you said —"

"It's impossible to find the Guild Master. The Guild Master finds you."

"Then how do I —"

Okarin pulled out a sheet of paper from one of the receptionist desks with a flourish. They immediately slammed the blank sheet onto an empty table with a slight 'Bam!'

Sica, the Leprechaun, jumped slightly at the sudden noise.

"Fill out a form," Okarin spoke dully.

The Slime person seemed impatient. Was there somewhere else that Okarin wanted to be?

"—?!?!!!!!"

"Just write it down. The Guild Master reads everything. He'll respond to you... eventually."

Okarin shoved a quill in the exasperated Leprechaun's hands.

"Have a nice day. I need to go now. There's a certain bird I need to catch."

"Um? Um? Excuse me???"

The girl sighed and then sat down at an empty writing desk.

The leprechaun was beginning to feel a headache come on...

However, her eyes narrowed. It was time to get serious.

Play time was over.

Dear Mister Guild Master -

My name is Sica and I am a representative of the Halfwing Federation.

I humbly request a meeting with Your Excellency.

As you may know, the Halfwing Federation was invaded by the Holy Human Empire earlier this year.

They have occupied most of our towns and villages with one of their armies. If nothing is done, they will annex the entire foothills as part of their empire. Once they have passed the Black Mountains, they will threaten your city as well as all other the kingdoms East of the mountains. The hunger of the Holy Human Empire knows no limit, and they will burn your farms and your villages to the ground.

They will come for you next.

Stand with us now.

Help us fight the Holy Human Empire. We can block them at the Black Mountains. The Passes through the Black Mountains can only be accessed by large armies in the Summer. It is impassible in the Winter, Spring, and Fall. If you help us eliminate the army that is currently occupying our villages, there will be no reinforcements until next Summer.

Together, our forces can block the Holy Human Empire at the narrow mountain passes.

Alone, we are crushed.

Once the Holy Human Empire passes the mountains, their armies, cavalry, siege engines, and archmages are unstoppable in the open fields. You do not stand a chance in conventional warfare. You have not seen the rain of meteor showers summoned by the Imperial Mages, or the Blight that poisons cities and causes the air itself to become unbreathable for miles around.

The Emperor of Destruction is not an ordinary enemy. You underestimate them at your greatest peril.

Let us meet. We need to talk.

And please, for all of our sakes, think carefully about this.

I pray that you do not make the wrong choice.

Sincerely,

Sica Lalufloute
Diplomat, Halfwing Federation

Summary:
  • Okarin encountered Sica, the leprechaun from the Halfwing Federation
  • Okarin showed Sica to the Guild Reception Desk
  • Sica wrote a letter to @GM pleading for assistance on behalf of the Halfwing Federation

"Taking a peek at the letter, it seems that the Half-wing is trying to get our help— However, they are trying to force us into helping them? Maybe they lack sincerity..."

"I believe sending someone to negotiate with them would not be a bad idea... However, I would also say that you should first focus the guild's resources in fixing the state of the tavern, as that seems like a more emergencial need."

"Ignore them entirely would be a foolish idea. However, we should try to find more information regarding this Holy Human Empire. After all, one side of the story doesn't mean the full story."

"What's a Holy Human Empire? Can it be eaten?"

Aquamarine had ditched the glass and was drinking water straight out of the pitcher.
