Their tentacles sway ethereally in the cosmic foam that only they can perceive.

He places his hand on the nearest tentacle and caresses it.

With a sad sucking POP, quagma peels each of the suction cups along their tentacles free from the mystery man's skin, white and smooth as coconut butter.

A quark out of place, a glass of water filled just an atom more, three fallen leaves instead of two, an unnoticable typo, a breath taken just a picosecond later. That is the only thing that differs.

It is so incredibly hard to find significant change, deviation between these worlds. To their occupants, they may as well be the same. That is why for travelers like you, with incomplete powers, cannot see beyond a certain event horizon.

It is true that circumstances change, and yesterday's enemy can become today's ally.
However, this happens when interests collide, even if only for a moment.

I have seen numerous worlds, numerous possibilities. I have dreamed for eons, even if it translated to just a few hours in my timeline.
In my wanderings, I never saw my presence. There is only one place where I exist.

I have never truly understood the existence of these timelines, as they are all the same to me. If it is possible to travel between them, then they are all but part of one world. But something about the one you are in is... different, as if it were an isolated existence, otherwise poisoning everything would be a matter of breathing and walking. Getting there is not a matter of walking from Point A to Point B.

Though as a foundation, it is rather unsightly, I see potential in building something beautiful atop it.

However, I realized that it was not just me who was absent, but you as well.
So the persecution I faced in my wanderings wasn't you? Was it a version created by myself after interacting with you?
Yet the memory of that sour lemon tea was deeply ingrained in my mind long before drinking it.
As if we were destined to meet or had met before our existence.
I can't explain it, but I know that my destiny somehow passes through you, and I know that you will be ready to prevent me from escaping my [REDACTED]
