Ringposition

Does wearing a ring on the ringfinger automatically means the person is in a relationship?

I seldom wear rings. I have some and a few are smaller than the others. My ringfinger just happens to be the most slender finger from all, so to spare myself from hurting my other fingers I put rings on my ringfinger. It's also aestheticially more pleasing sometimes.

I got a bombastic sideeye for that. :blob_pout: I argued back that people wear rings on all fingers, but got contered with wearing multiple rings (ringfinger+any other finger) were a different story from wearing one finger just on the ringfinger. I don't really care about the meaning of each finger, although in novels people wear a ring a lot to block possible suitors or because they are taken.

But that is fiction, how is it in reality? Can a single wear a single ring on the ringfinger? Will you automatically link it to the person being taken? :blob_hmm:

I used to, back when I wore jewelry/high-school, because the ring finger is thinner than the pointer, and not on the edge of the hand like the pinky…

They are cool! Standard for metal fans or goth. A bit edgy, but who cares.

In comparison , I once had a customer with a tooth ring as in a back-tooth in jewel-position. That was kinda nasty. You couldn’t tell if it was a really authentic tooth imitation or a real tooth :blob_neutral:

please don’t ever get such a special ring.

If I saw someone wearing a ring on their left ring finger I would assume they are engaged or married.
Funny enough, my country doesn’t take it too strict with left or right hand. Sometimes they say engagement on one and wedding on the opposite. Yet left and right both have legit argumentation for them being the hand to wear the wedding band.

You can wear a ring if you want where you want, but people will assume you're in a committed relationship if you wear a ring on a ring finger.

So it really depends on whether you're fine with strangers thinking that about you.
Now that you mention it. The mere thought of someone thinking that is creeping me out. I’m allergic to 3D love.
