Thoughts on the abnormal success of a story

If you are someone I know you probably already know what I am going to talk about here.
Basically if you have been following SH you'll probably notice the abnormal growth of a novel called "Cultivation struggles of a lowly fox" and how it pretty much became one of the more popular novels in less than half a year.
This thread isn't made to diss or be suspicious of the author however. (Ezy is quite the nice person and even they are weirded out by how abnormal the growth is)

I was going to post this in readers but I rather see the thoughts of other authors about this. Do you think its abnormal or just a normal occurence in SH?

Some people get lucky. It's all a mystery. You can write a 5 star masterpiece but never get recognized until after you die. Or you can write actual dogwater but for some reason people absolutely gobble it up.

Shit happens.

Edit: Ah to clarify--I'm not calling their story dogwater. It might actually be good. Just wanted to express the uncertainty of it all.

The speed of growth is luck, but the conditions to rapidly grow were fulfilled.

I now understand the success and my surprise has dropped significantly, as has my desire to read the novel.

Jokes aside I do actually semi know why it probably became like this (read the entire thing myself after all and enjoyed it)
Ironically the things (smut) is not one of the reason or is it even a reason at all(0 smut but apparently tagged for future stuff)
The novel has a very impressive average view per chap under 24 hours (1k in 6 hours wth!?1?!?) Which does help with the viewcount. Theres also the fact that the schedule release of the novel is pretty much known by most viewers even though it isn't explained anywhere so the story pretty much gets camped.
It's mostly a fluff story and child care with a side of mischief and generally just a breath of fresh air on the xianxia genre without feeling too outlandish

Tldr for my speculation: baited by tags, stayed for the story

the author should open a patreon with a 10+ dollar tier for advanced chapter and get a lot of money, they should definitely strike while the iron is hot, it'll cool down eventually in a couple of months.
