"Not my problem at least 10 trillion lives aren't on your hands from your first failure. Though I doubt most of them where human and if they had remained human they would have welcomed the death." I shrug and laugh a little at what I've said he can read that as he will.

Riku gave a small sympathic smile, even as he tried to fathom something like that occurring." Sounds like you need a drink more than I do."

"No? Why would I? It happened I got better I'm over it. A single planet that was corrupt and at war with itself it likely would have fallen even if I hadn't failed soon after my failure only allowed someone whom was far far more experienced at what they did to push it over the edge. The only regret is my failure made the sacrifice of 10 trillion Imperial subjects to be wasted." AIEO laughs a little more. "Plus alcohol and mental faculties do not go well and I need those far more."

"Only if you end up getting drunk" Riku replied, then asked, "A lightweight then?" Even as he joked, Riku played around with her words in his head. Was it really that simple? It happened, you're here now; deal with it? You killed, you had to kill; get over it?

Shaking his head, you questioned the person to first meet him in this hell world. "How long have you been here?"

"A few months now and no I've never drunk before and I feel I'm in the worst conditions to even start. You seem to be thinking just a little to deeply about what I've just said. There are some who have vastly different beliefs to myself here. Such as Nene a pure pacificst."

Riku chuckled harshly at hearing that, then nodding." I suppose I was. But, months? Is there no way for you to get back?" Riku thought about that carefully. Could he have done something differently last night? It all happened so fast...that man wasn't willing to settle thing's peacefully. Did he even get the chance to? Riku thought about the flashes of bright light, the pain of the dagger digging into his flesh, the burning scent of charred flesh.

"Probably I haven't looked into it I have a debt to pay and the collection of that money has not been going all that fast. Anyway stop reminiscing about your first fight you damned puppy." AIEO slaps him on the back.

Riku's face shifted into surprise, "What!?"
My face remains perfectly still except a slight twinge of my lip because of the poison in my veins. "OH please it's so obvious the deep introspection the charred smell wafting off you. EVERY single action you have taken since I appraised your reports led me to this conclusion. Don't try and hide it I've seen hundreds personally that first kill a man makes with his bayonet in a war it's always the same the night after and probably a few million when I was being trained in the arts of the Vanus temple." Damned corner stop your twitching would it doesn't help.

Riku's smile was barely present on his face as he looked down at the table, "That's certainly a way to tell someone they smelt terrible." he continued, "I may or may not have done what you said. It may or may not have been the reason I decided against watching the wall. What may have occurred...what are you going to do now?"

"It happened you do not smell bad I personally enjoy the smell of burning flesh. Why would I do anything it's not like I haven't killed before nor do I care for whom you killed they are not one of the Emperor's servants so extremely expendable would be my immediate concern. Plus as I said you have the look of a soldier who killed for the first time you aren't a sadist who wants to kill you are merely a man forced into killing for his own defence. I can see it's not murder. The only thing I would do is warn you about making sure the body can't be found but the smell tells me you probably did that already." I laugh a little at how defensive he got all of a sudden but then again he doesn't know me at all so being so defensive is well within his purview.

Riku leaned back with a sigh; releasing a breath that he didn't realize he was holding. He look at the harden warrior across from him. Her worl view was completely different from where he came from, but if he didn't have to worry about her potentially taking him in to whatever this society considered jail, he'll leave that matter alone.

Riku spoke, "I did something that I could never do before coming to this city. I don't know how, and I don't know why, but it happened when I was being attacked. It frankly terrifies me..."

A dark look comes over my face, "Unsanctioned sorcery. Not something I am particularly fond of. Not at all. Magisters must be sanctioned and protected in my views not just for our sake but for their own you wouldn't want to blow up after all and I've seen that happen enough times to the unprotected to know how deadly it can be." I make sure he knows I don't approve of this after all I've seen exactly what it does far to many times, my world was once happy enough with magisters but well things put a stop to that being the case very fast when they started exploding randomly I hear.

Riku bit the side of his mouth at the look she was giving him. He had been worried about this the hour he realized where he was; too many things he didn't know, too many views that he was unaware of or couldnt account for. "it wasn't magic...I had an acquaintance try to open my ability to do so. She couldn't." Riku stopped himself from describing what it was and how it felt. He had already stepped on one sensitive nerve; telling her he was beginning to feel as energized as yesterday with the sun up, wouldn't help matters

"Aye remember to bite your tongue I'm possibly the most disagreeable person in this place on most subjects but killing is not one of those." My look stays as dark as it was before.

Riku nodded at that before he spoke once more, "I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for coming to speak with me. You helped clear a few things up for me."

"Kid I didn't help clear anything up. You did this all on your own. Anyway that's not what you wanted to talk to me about surely right?" I pulled out my dagger and began spinning it in my hands my face growing lighter as it went on.

"Yes, that's it." he replied while getting up. "But there's no rest for the wicked, as my people say. I need to go book a room before they're all gone, and try to make amends with the guards." giving a slight nod of the head, he continued, "You might not think it, but you did help me come to terms with a few things. I'll be sure to keep them in mind from now on."

"Heh you kid need to learn to trust no one especially not yourself if you can be so easily swayed and I should get on with my quest though I guess I won't start now to early I'll start tonight or something anyway I probably won't see you around so don't ask after me." I spin my dagger around on my hand more and let it reach higher and higher speeds.

"You..."
While I did not know her, I rubbed my temples and wondered how-- lucky was she? Should I say misfortunate? Whether that is one or another. Her experiences are something I do not wish to face anytime. What could I say about her condition? She was completely aware of the danger yet did this quest under her Goddess' guidance or something along these lines according to her report. I suppose I can just say this--

"Please. Don't ever try to become a Rank D. I think anyone... anyone prefer a report with a living person in front of them rather than a corpse... it would be a shame to lose anyone."
Remind me to never take the E-Rank test as well. I think I am fine with being unranked.

"--and most importantly, rest. You deserve it after all this trouble. Wish I could say something else, but, eh, nevermind about that. That would be irrelevant."
Whatever your Goddess teaches you-- it's not worth endangering one's life. However, that is not something I can just outright say to her face, right?

"Alright... I guess the unimportant yet significant part of this talk has come. The rewards-- well, you've completed every objective, so now, you're Rank E--"
At a price that could have been her life instead of some injuries and a sickness.
"Obviously 30G which will hopefully permit you to rest."

OOC: You also get 400EXP~ Congratulations as well! \o/
Be sure to tag your report as appraised~
"I thank you for your words, mister Manyvat, they are appreciated.

"Though if The Goddess' path leads me towards a new rank, then I will take the test towards it.

"Nonetheless, I will take your worries to heart, mister Manyvat... While weird, it is nice to see the very words I tell most reckless adventurers being told to myself... I am happy to see that other adventurers that take the time to go through reports also worry for their fellow coworkers.

"I will take your advice for now and go rest, mister Manyvat. Thank you for your kindness."

There was a queue at the checkpoint right at the entrance of Scribel. Iris was there as well, huffing with a large backpack on her shoulders, tired from the road. She had no energy to spare to fiddle about, so instead she closed her eyes, trying to get some rest upright. Sadly the sounds from all around were obnoxiously louder this way.

“Oi!” A woman shouted from the side of another from somewhere in front of Iris, “How much longer will this take? It’s almost sundown!”

“Yeah! Our feet will bleed at this rate!” An older woman chimed in.

A couple of people behind Iris were whispering to each other in hissing tones, coherent with the light smell of a swamp creature that denoted lizardfolk:

“(Brother, are you aware why we are not moving?)”

“(Patience, lower spawn, the men are abuzz with excitement)”

“(Is there a fight fleeing toward us? Or hunters?)”

“(No, it is currency fraud. Some shell-hunters try sneaking in)”
“(Ours?)”

“(Not. Crim’s.)”

Iris’ comprehension of lizardspeak being low as it is, she still caught the gist of it. Contraband, huh?

The queue moved forward a bit, before pausing again. Iris, eyes still closed bumped into the two women from earlier.

“Hey, watch it!” The shorter one said, the other giving Iris a glare. She responded with an apologetic blush.

“Sorry…” She simply said, and took a look at the couple. They were rather lightly dressed for the weather. Locals, she guessed. She herself wasn’t as tolerant of the cold, and was glad of the baggage keeping her cloak close to her body.

“Let it be, Clarice. This girl seems like she crawled out from the sticks somewhere, so manners would be unexpected,” the taller girl smiled gently, her eyes slits.

Well, they seem bored, Iris thought to herself. She decided to ignore them, and looked away to the rolling hills on the side. Far into the horizon darkness was approaching.

“You are too kind, Flora.” The shorter girl said, finger on her chin. Iris noticed she was glaring at her pendant, “Hey give me that!”

“Sorry, no,” Iris responded. The girl reached out to pull on it, causing Iris to flinch back and bump into the lizardmen.

“What big idea iz?” The lizard hissed.
Iris decided it would be boring to apologize this time around, and stepped aside to glare at both of them. She enchanted her eyes to glamour the rabble with fear. The short girl cowered behind her big sister, who looked distressed, while the lizardmen’s forked tongues started darting out. Yet the small girl had a sneer on her face. Iris quickly realized the lizards had taken her spot in the queue. She sighed, throat parched, and headed slowly toward the end of it. She didn’t have much choice really.

An hour later by torchlight she entered the bridge into the city, and looked around to ask for directions. The guards were too busy finally changing shifts. The witch felt lost for direction, and sought to ask the local spirits, but to her dismay they were as busy as the mean townsfolk from earlier.

The streets seemed empty, except the main street, which still had back and forth traffic. Townsfolk were bringing home buckets of water on shoulder mounted yokes, presumably as dinner preparations. One of them was a large wolfkin woman. She stood out with her fierce expression. Some chimneys were already billowing out smoke. A couple of kids snuck quickly past her, obviously past curfew. They saw the wolf woman, shouting out “Sira!” and running away. She noticed one of the kids had horns. Sira herself looked away annoyed, and paused for a moment to readjust the yoke. This gave Iris a good entry point, so she asked her, looking up:

“Excuse me, would you know the way toward the Adventurer’s Guild?”

The wolfkin scratched her chin, and pointed down the street, instructing “Turn right over there, and keep walking riverside, until you see the large sign on the left.” It was simple enough.

“Thank you!” Iris nodded, and smiled as widely as her tired self could. Following the path laid out eventually brought her to the building itself…

“This should be all, yes?” Iris asked the receptionist she registered with. She activated her card, and put it in a pocket in her bosom.
“Yes, due to the late hour, I would recommend you find a place to rest, before looking for work. The quest board is updated early in the morning. Good luck!”

Iris really needed a drink. Something substantial. She made her way toward an open pub, and had a mind to order ale, before noticing a strange drink:

Broth with egg and yogurt? And it’s called Core Slime? What kind of town is this anyway...
Nene really is reckless, I never knew that she would be the one to recklessly charge into a rank e quest and pray the pain away I was helping a co-worker clean a table when I saw a new adventurer registering at the receptionist window. "Hello, what would you like to drink?" I was in a bit of a hurry since nene might get a fever or something while I'm away and the guild doctor was really busy.

"I thank you for your words, mister Manyvat, they are appreciated.

"Though if The Goddess' path leads me towards a new rank, then I will take the test towards it.

Ah? She came out.... Annnnd she goes right back in, good girl.
