"Guest Lecturer... Demon... Lord... Yauger."
The transmigrator Ryan spoke aloud as he wrote out his name and title on the chalkboard. He turned around to face the classroom. It was the largest auditorium in The Glorius Empire of the Lunarian Dominion's Royal Magic Academy. It was all done up in hardwood with long tables on the various tiers. It had the feel of a 19th-century school classroom in Oxford. All the students were dressed in dark blue uniforms for the men, but the women were allowed to accessorize with scarves and whatnot. The entire room was standing room only with people crammed into wherever they could fit and still see Ryan. They brought in extra chairs with people of special privilege sitting in the wings.
Ryan would admit, he was hamming it up. He looked his usual tall self with black hair and brown eyes, but he had a long jagged scar across his left eye. A large pair of red horns Stuck out of his forehead with a bit of a sensual swoop to them as they rose up and each came to a point. He was back to having leathery bat wings, but he hooked the first claws of each wing together around his neck, making the wings look more like a mysterious black cape. He was dressed in a fine 3 piece suit he had conjured, all black with a red dress shirt and a black tie. His hair was long and wavy, more dripping down his back than hanging. Somehow he managed to make his hair look 'wet' even when it was dry, giving it a glossy shimmer as it moved.
In short, Ryan looked like Hollywood's impression of the Devil himself.
He carefully placed the chalk down on the tray under the blackboard and walked back to the podium. He gave the room a smile, "Greetings. Please address me as Mister Yauger. Try to save your questions for the end." He pointed around the room, "I'm afraid I didn't have enough copies made, so I do encourage people to share. For those of you just arriving, I put together a short summary of the quantum properties of magic. I talked with the headmistress. She'll make the information available to all students and faculty, just as soon as more copies can be made."
He cleared his throat by coughing into his fist then took a sip from his water, "I wish to take a moment to thank Headmistress Hecate for the use of your university for my research. As per our agreement, I will, on a bi-monthly basis, be giving lectures onto the nature of magic and then open it up to any questions involving any sort of science in general." He turned around and gestured. One of the blackboards moved up to reveal what Ryan had taken the time to write out beforehand.
"Today we will be discussing the trinary nature of Monads and the way they combine into metatrons. We will also be discussing how Metatrons can collect in a group of a single type to form what is called a Principle." Ryan then paused to gesture and raise up a second blackboard, "And how multiple principles can combine to form what we call Actinals, or in laymen's terms..." He turned around to face the class
"Spells."
----
The lecture was for only an hour and everyone hung on Ryan's every word. He wound up spending a great deal of time explaining how a single monad was always a loop, but the loop could be knotted and the layers of knots and how many times the knot criss-crossed itself was limited by proximity to dark matter. People seemed rather confused on how that worked, even with his giving examples. The world of quantum mechanics and how it applied to magic was an unfamiliar concept. They just seemed to have a problem of understanding that something could be and not be at the same time. The effects of observation and the subjectivity of reality was hard for most of them to grasp.
A few did.
Those few were the ones who were taking up most of the Q and A time of the lecture. These few with which Ryan's words clicked sent them into an almost orgasmic state. The banter between them spiraled out of control as they managed to start doing the math on their own, drawing their own conclusions.
The four students who did 'get it' were having what could only be described as a religious experience. A few staff as well, but they were far more controlled in their response. Ryan's Periodic Table of Mana opened up a universe of possibilities for them, whereas most of the crowd tried to follow along. Most understood the basics, but only a select few really got it. To Ryan, it was obvious who was here because they were nobility and attending the university was a formality, and those who were here because Magic was what was important to them.
"And that concludes this lecture. I hope you found it informative. In two weeks I'll be addressing magic circles, magic spheres and the possibility of magical hyper-spheres and the implications of how it could be used to affect higher dimensions outside the usual perception of mortals."
The auditorium started to slowly file out, a dozen young women gathered near the podium, hoping to ask more questions, but Ryan was on a time table. He waved off the on lookers stating that his hours were Moonday, Middleday, and Mightday between one and five in the afternoon. He packed up his notes into his leather briefcase and started heading out through the teacher only entrance to the back halls.
As he stepped through the doorway, Headmistress Lulu'Wenna Hecate was standing there across from the door, leaning against the wall. She didn't look anything like the over two century old elf she was. She appeared to be more like a child. She was thin, short, flat as a board, but had very feminine features. She looked like a twelve year old, at best.
She also was extremely crafty and had figured out Ryan's weakness almost instantly.
"Are you busy, daddy?" She remarked while putting her hands behind her back and swaying her shoulders. She stepped up to him and fluttered her eyelashes while moving uncomfortably close, "I was wondering if you could... TEECH... me?" then bit her lower lip.
Ryan turned to leave, but the door had already closed behind him. He wound up backed up against it on his tiptoes as he tried to avoid being touched by her, "Will you PLEASE stop FLIRTING WITH ME???"
Lulu laughed and rolled her eyes, "You know, for a demon lord, you are sure have a lot of hang-ups." She took a step back, "Been meaning to ask you. They say big horns, big feet, big..." Then glanced down at his crotch.
Ryan slapped his hand over his eyes, "Every day, I regret telling you I come from a world where the men are the sexually dominate gender." He dragged his hand down and let it fall to his side with a sigh, "There's this thing called sexual harassment, you know?"
Lulu smirked and hit Ryan in the center of his chest with the back of her hand, "Yeah yeah yeah." She turned and started walking down the hall, "You're the only one I can do this with. I have to live like a monk in this school because if I slept with any of the students, they'd blackmail me. If I sleep with staff, that would be legal, but get messy."
Ryan followed her, "Yeah, yeah, yeah" He echoed, "I only put up with it because it's so hard to get angry at you."
She glanced up at him, "Oh, c'mon! I'm NEVER going to get another chance to sleep with a demon lord. I know you said you-"
"HALF-demon lord." Ryan looked back down at her, "Do you really want me to list all the reasons why I will not bang you? Again?"
She smirked, "Bang?" She shook her head slightly, "Damn. You tell me you aren't interested then you talk dirty to me in the very next sentence. You really know how to send mixed signals."
Ryan sighed, "Did the requested materials arrive?"
Lulu pouted, "Business, Business, Buisness. Have you ever considered relaxing? Taking a day off? I know this sauna we could visit. Might do you a world of good to relax."
"I remember relaxing once." Ryan walked along silently for several steps before he continued, "After letting my guard down, the son of my best friend died in front of me."
Lulu's pout faded and she returned her focus to where they were going, "Everything about you is so tragic, Ryan." She sighed, "Do you have any idea how attractive that is?"
Ryan put a hand on her shoulder, "Hold it." He came to a stop, "Explain that."
Lulu stopped as well and looked back at him, "Seriously?" She squinted for a moment before explaining, "Ah. In your world, you meet a beautiful woman. She's cold, and aloof. She occationally tells you that she has suffered deeply. She only smiles when her face becomes a mask she wears to be polite. Deep down you can tell she's not happy, yet she is also a good person who oozes nobility and clearly DESERVES to be happy" She murmured a short arcane phrase and proceeded to float up to eye level with Ryan. She reached out to cup Ryan's cheek.
"Tell me you wouldn't want to comfort her."
Ryan blinked, then cast his gaze floorward. Eventually he closed his eyes and leaned into her hand, covering it with his own, "I understand. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."
"AUGH!" Lulu let out as a strangled cry. She pulled her hand back and flicked him in the forehead, "This is what I'm TALKING ABOUT." She dropped back down to the floor.
Ryan rubbed his forehead, "I..." He blinked a few times, "I don't get it."
Lulu let out a bitter laugh, "Yeah... I know, I know..." She grabbed his hand and started pulling him down the hallway, "You got two more invitations to visit neighboring kingdoms today."
"Is that why you're bo-" Ryan cut himself off, "Meeting me." He corrected.
"No. That's not why I'm bothering you." Lulu said with a smirk, "I'm just mensioning it. I know you'll turn them down like the others." She squeezed Ryan's hand, "I think I may have found a dragon's lair."
Ryan sped up to get in front of Lulu and looked down at her, blocking her path, "WHERE?"
Lulu frowned, "A dangerous place. On another contient known as the lost continent because stepping foot on it is considered a death sentence. It has a wide range of valuable materials that need mining, so the only know patch of civilization on that acursed place is a penal colony." She looked away, "Reports came in thier was a dragon sighting."
Ryan opened his mouth, then closed it. He thought for a bit, "Sounds like Australia." he muttered before looking up, "You know I have to follow up on this. I told you that the dragons have a gate network. They can get me home."
Lulu nodded and looked up, "Yeah, yeah, yeah..." She squeesed Ryan's hand again, "I'm going to miss you."
Ryan went down on one knee so he could look Lulu in the eye, "I'm going to miss you as well. You've done a lot for me this past month and a half, I don't know how to repay you."
"Sleep with me?" Lulu smirked and waggled her eyebrows.
Ryan went quiet. Eventually, he spoke a single word, "Tempting."
Lulu's smirk faded, "Seriously?"
Ryan nodded, "Yes." He pushed a stray lock of her hair behind her ears, "Unfortunately you still look like my daughter with pointy ears and I'm still not over the death of my wife."
Lulu sighed and rolled her eyes, "Yeah yeah-" She was cut off when Ryan abruptly leaned in and gave her a kiss. Her eyes went wide, then slowly closed to half open. Her hands reached up to carress his chest while the kiss dragged on. After a minute, she pulled away, her eyelids heavy, "Wow."
It was Ryan's turn to cup her cheek, "I hope that will do."
Lulu shuddered as she blinked rapidly while taking a deep breath, "It will have to, I guess. But... DAMN." She stepped away, "If you ever get over your wife, come back and see me." She licked her lips as she looked Ryan up and down, "Because I'd LOVE to hubby you up."
