Well, Frieren just finished airing so it isn’t unusual. It’s a great throwback to a classic fantasy world and will teach you to enjoy your time to the fullest, if you don’t already. Angel beats is another experience altogether, I don’t tend to watch these kinds of shows but I am glad I made the exception for these two!
Frieren is on my list lol, I'm just going to have to finish up Pokemon. I'm still in Hoenn.

Is it really that good? All I saw in the past month is people sucking the show’s toes which always makes me feel like something is being way overhyped.

We lost kaze no stigma too soon.
Yes :blob_pat_sad:

But… Bleach? Well, I get the nostalgia, but poor show fell apart at the end.
If you take the whole anime, it's not just nostalgia, Aizen was one if not the best villain. Sure the last arc was rushed due to some problem, but judging the anime just because of the last arc is not enough of a reason.

For me it is :blob_no: It makes or breaks my opinion of a show. It can be the best one of all time if the ending sucks, I’ll dislike it.:blob_cringe:

It's like after a great meal someone places a shit cake before me as a dessert and tells me to eat it.

I do not watch overhyped anime because I feel the same way. This one is really that good. It has genuinely good action and the atmosphere is on point. Animation is great too and that’s a big positive. The hype is deserved, I think. I do not usually say that :blob_evil_two:

Since the manga isn't really finished, you can still see it as not finished yet

1). Zero no Tsukaima (The Familiar of Zero) - the combination of magic, history and modern technology did it for me. Also got me into writing isekai. It's also an annual tradition for me to rewatch the four seasons every Christmas Day.

2). Ookami to Shinkuryo (Spice and Wolf) - the show taught me about business and blending real life mechanics with fantasy elements especially the "boring" stock market.

3). ToraDora - I always recommend this to my students, mainly for its message.

4). Log Horizon - I like this show more than its contemporary Sword Art Online, mainly because Shiro made more sense to me than Kirito.

5). Shield Bro - I like his progression, though what kind of turned me off is the MC's edginess. Still in my Top 5 though I read the web novel instead of actually watching the anime.

Honorable Mentions

Mushoku Tensei - my primary turn off is the MC, though he did a character development to the end (I also read the web novel instead of the anime). MT also made me realize that the concept of monogamy lies only in the culture, not the 'absolute' morality of the society.

Haruhi Suzumiya - yeah, I was influenced by its unorthodoxy and whimsicality, which I still apply in my life today.

Kaze no Stigma - strong start, but author died, so...

Hundred Stories - I'm a sucker for Japanese horror blended with creepy animation, so this one's good stuff for me.

If the list was not only anime, I would have put Mushoku in it. And for the Shield hero, the anime didn't follow the novel.

1. Ranma ½ - The first anime I saw, I loved it for its absurd comedy and its fanservice
2.Overlord - First isekai I saw, very fun, protagonist with questionable morality and good world based on D&D
3.JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - I love this saga because of how adsurd and epic its situations are, highly recommended
4.Kill la Kill - Crazy and fluid animation, fanservice and epic fights
5.Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt - This is one of the most vulgar and funniest animes you will see

extra:
Highschool of the Dead - Epic zombie killing and boobs, that's all, highly recommended
Baki - They are the most absurd, epic and violent fights you will see

I didn't know that, but I love the Web novel version, if that's the case.

In fact, if someone would ask what's my Top 5 isekai:

1). Zero no Tsukaima
2). Shield Bro
3). Mushoku Tensei
4). Log Horizon (if one would consider this to be isekai)
5). To be filled yet...

First three made me skip classes before, since I got so immersed in the storytelling I often find myself at odds with my schedule. I'm the teacher, btw.

Zero No Tsukaima is old. When I watched it... well it was hard to watch the MC get beaten by his summoner at first.

Yeah, around 2007 anime? As for the antics, I look past that, since it's been a staple of animes from that time. And the abuse the MC receives from FMC actually has a connection to the story from the LNs, than simply an author's way to solicit laughs from the audience.

I don't care if others can't take the antics; I enjoyed the show much, so it's on my top list.
