Then went to get myself some apple and cinnamon crumble so needed to heat that up, along with the custard

You may be joking, but you guessed it. Carbonara is my 3rd favorite dish on the planet.

I like carbonara, but not the traditional one.
The version I like isn't technically carbonara, but I like it and it's easy to do.
Cook some fusilli pasta then drain and leave to the side
Slice some mushrooms
Chop some sliced ham or cook some bacon until it's crispy and chop up
Put the mushrooms in a pan and add a tiny bit of water then fry as is
Add the ham with the mushrooms
Or add the bacon once the mushrooms are close to cooked
Add some cream to the pan and the pasta
Grind lots of black pepper onto it and mix around
Once the cream has thickened but is still runny add lots of grated cheddar cheese
Mix it all up and make sure the cheese it melted
Serve up

Just don't leave it too long after adding the cheese cos it can end up splitting and making the whole thing go grainy and lumpy.
Also, slice the mushrooms more on the thick-ish side cos then they give this really nice meaty texture.
And the black pepper balances out the richness of the cream and cheese, so if it seems too rich when you start eating, just add some more.
