"...Pfft!"

After a few moments of startled silence, Vicious burst out laughing, attempting to limit it to a polite chuckle and failing spectacularly. Between fits of laughter she managed to get some coherent words out.

"Hahahaha...forgive me, but I can't...oh, compared to that Karlan charlatan, you're the real deal indeed...no offense, just---pffft!"

Eventually she managed to rein herself in, wiping the tears of mirth from her eyes.

"I'm not in the position to talk at the moment, but I imagine my former workplace would be quite glad to hire you as a guidance counsellor. Between all of them, we're severely lacking in good cops."
*smiles a bit* "Well, I am not quite sure what that position would entail, but I'm glad you saw some good in my words, miss Vicious.

"Just remember to see some good in your own actions as well, and I'm sure The Goddess will guide your path."

OOC: OMG! That reaction! You made me laugh just like Vicious! xD

"Don't worry, I'm not particularly deficient in that aspect."

Still chuckling lightly Vicious said thus, though a frown slowly worked it's way into her expression.

"I confess, even though I never feel particularly good about killing, neither have I once felt particularly bad about it, either. Although I suppose the circumstances didn't allow for that then...huh."

The mug emptied out.

"...I wonder how my colleagues are doing. Even with the dwarven war that's going on, it's still far less dangerous there than at home...If only I could find the way back."

*takes another sip from her tea* "Often times we don't have much of a choice, miss Vicious. Do you think a child of a thief would usually feel bad about robbery? Perhaps they would, or perhaps they would think of it as the way that their parent puts food in their table... Which one do you think is more likely?

"For the most part, we cannot control how we feel about things, and that by itself is not wrong. I hold my belief that you are a good person at heart, the fact that you do not feel proud of your accomplishments are more than enough proof of that. Even if you don't feel bad about the ill you have caused others, as far as I know of you, you have always had good reasons to act in the way you did... While I can't condone your actions, I do not think you should feel troubled by how you feel about them.

"I can only pray your colleagues are doing what their heart tells them, and hopefully The Goddess will help you find a way to open a path back towards them."

"Knowing them, most of them will either be sleeping in mysterious corners of the island, hiding someone else's fresh laundry, pasting random pictures of barnyard animals on each other's room doors, or sneaking items out of their original places and leaving them where they shouldn't be. That reminds me; I left my old room unlocked when I left. Those idiots better not have snuck off with my stamp collection..."

Despite herself, Vicious laughed.

"God forbid, your words are quite dangerous, Nene. If I'm not careful enough, no one will take me seriously once I get back, haha! Gotta live up to my namesake, after all. But thank you regardless."

"You have very... Unique friends, miss Vicious.

"But if you enjoy their friendship, I have nothing more to say, I pray you have a chance of reuniting with them."

"I get that often. Maybe a bit too often, in fact. Well, on that note I'd better get back to work; good luck with your Sarkaz passenger as well, eh? A priestess and a demon...who knows, you two might prove a good tag team. At least he's not asking you to continue his bloodline, pffft."

Chuckling heartily, Vicious paid her tab and got to her feet.

"Catch you later."

"I'll see you later, miss Vicious. Take care of yourself." *waves*

Vysic walked into the tavern, smelling of sewer and sweat.

They don't care about you. They're drinking.

He walked towards his tavern room, but ended up bumping into some people.

Vysic mumbled sorry, before speed walking away.

While leaving its room, a young man bumps into Exal, causing it to frown.

"Excuse me, young man? You don't seem to be doing so well." Exal calls out while placing its hand on the man's shoulder.

Physical contact!

Vysic jumped out of his skin.

"I'm fine... Just shower now, BYE!", he shakily responded.

He quickly brushed off the man's hand and ran to his room.

"Well, you most certainly don't seem fine. Statistically speaking, your reaction just now proves that..." Before Exal can finish, Vysic already is long gone.

"I wonder what's wrong with him?"

AIEO's voice comes from a distance away from Exal, "He's just been in the sewers and seen something nasty from the smell is my bet."

*Throws open the tavern door*

*Spots her student, Cassel*

*Chucks two ice magic scrolls and a personal note at him*

*Closes the tavern door and leaves*

The note reads the following in scruffy handwriting, 100% unbefitting of someone who used to be a fancy princess:
"Use these if you need to, each scroll contains a powerful sealed ice spell. I was told that they can critically injure E-ranked adventurers if they were attacked by the spell head-on.

Oh, also, I've decided to head back to Gelderholm before starting my search in Spire Reef. Just letting you know in case you want to contact me. See you around!

Feeling a pair of scrolls and followed up a piece of paper hitting the back of his head. He turned around only to find the tavern door swinging. Sighing he bent down and grabbing the offending items. The scrolls themselves were marked in all sorts of runes and at first glance didn't do much. But, thanks to his training with mana he could tell that they were dangerous only needing a burst of mana to set them off.

As for the note...he saw the familiar sight of his teacher hand writing. Long used to it from reading the reports, he skimmed through the messy hand writing warmly. And, after finishing he wanted to laugh. Honestly her kindness would be the end of her someday.

So he just needed to get stronger before that happened.

"I am glad to hear that you have successfully, erm, 'expanded your core' was it? Although I must say it seemed rather risky of you to do so in a simple burrow: you were fortunate that no underground beasts attacked you."

"You have quite some skill with a spear! Able to ward off all the creatures within the ravine just using a makeshift lance is quite a feat. Also, you can hop between trees? That's awesome, I wish I could do that."

"I wonder what kind of strange insect nest you found in that large crack... ah anyway, I'm getting distracted, here are your rewards Mr Exal. Congratulations on becoming a Rank E adventurer!"
Reward
EXP:
400
Money:
30 G
Items:
Rank E Certificate
Random Egg (it might hatch!)
"Thank you, Miss... Felicia, is it? Anyway, as I had not found any mention of underground beasts attracted to magic in that area, I simply assumed it to be safe. And driving off creatures is a simple matter of being deemed a threat - though being able to calculate their trajectories, speed, and weight certainly helps. But I am trying to avoid using such ungraceful combat methods. They do not suit someone as noble as myself."

"You're very welcome Mr Exal, obtaining a rank is a turning point for any adventurer afterall. And yes, you may call me Felicia, or perhaps Feli or Cia for short if you prefer."

"As much as I respect your confidence in that regard, I still disapprove of your assumption. Much of this world is unexplored afterall, who knows what kind of beasts we have yet to uncover, whether they may be underground dwellers or not. It's always better to play it safe, you never know when you could lose your life."

"Haha, not many have the bravery to be able to confidently square off against a monster and intimidate them enough to scare them off."

"Ungraceful you say huh... You remind me a little of how I used to be in the past. Just don't overestimate yourself out there Mr Exal, there will be times where 'grace' is the least of your worries. Stay safe!"

Vysic, now bathed, cleaned and dressed, exited his room, and went down towards the tavern.

He sat there, drinking some fruit juice as well as secretly listening to conversations.
