She might be his soulmate, but fate has doomed them to a tragic end where they can never achieve a happy ending.Thanks. Had a lot of fun too. Was interesting to see how many parallels you can draw between Matcha and Seymour. With how they're both in over their hands and destined to fail no matter what. You were actually spot on in your last comment, she does desire to be defeated, as in like, erased for good and have Ssemouy take over permanently defeated. Though what Matcha failed to see was that the Declaration isn't Seymour's own power, it's granted to her and dictates what she can do. If she admits defeat herself, she's considered dead and forced to come back with her old ego intact the next time around.
Even when I write a comedic character, drama eventually emerges.
The only way would be for Matcha to lose, and this isn't so difficult in terms of competence and skill but from a character perspective, Seymour's attempt to lift his spirits has made him even more resilient. Even if defeated physically, he wouldn't give up mentally or emotionally.
This way, he can't find happiness, which he would achieve if he submitted to Seymour. A no-win situation.
I really liked the parallel you made with Sisyphus; I find it fitting with Matcha's situation.
It's truly a Greek tragedy.
