can you do it
Here are some examples that you can follow for your character:

Name: Nene
Gender: Female
Race: Kitsune
Age: 28
Class: Miko
Personality: Very Polite and Religious.
Level: 1 (0/200)
A few Talismans
An Olive Branch
Some Spare Clothes
10G
The majority of Nene's skills revolve around using Talismans in some shape or form. Though she also does some things by dancing, praying or brewing concoctions.

Here is a handy list of what she's currently able to do:

Purifying Locations.
Healing Magic.
Cleansing Afflictions, Curses and Sicknesses.
Blessings.
Barriers.
Helping Spirits of the Dead pass to the afterlife.
Nene was a priestess of the Fox Goddess, Kurama, back in her original world.

As the human civilization prospered however, they started making their worship of the God of Light, Luminous, stronger and stronger. While there have been religious wars before, this time it was different... Fiercer, much more dangerous than before... They were going to eliminate all other religions one by one, to make the whole world belong to believers of Luminous.

When they attacked the temple that Nene served under, the head priestess erected a barrier and told the other priests to run... Nene wanted to stay and help protect their goddess' temple, but she knew how little she could do against such a heavy number difference, especially when all she could do was to buy time against them... Just like the head priestess was doing.

She fled, fled without any destination in particular, she just kept running... After some time, more attackers appeared, again, again and again. And with each time it happened, another priest would fall, to stay back and buy time to let the others survive... Until Nene was the only one left.

Out of options, and desperate for a way to live, she hid herself in the middle of a big city that would hopefully be too crowded to let her pursuers find her... She could not stay there forever though, for she had no way of making money if not by offering the services of her goddess. Which would be tantamount to suicide.

That was when she heard that the city had a portal to another world... A place so so far away that her pursuers would never be able to chase after her... The price to get there was steep however, it took most of her life's savings, and all the money that had been accumulated in the temple that she was able to salvage when they were attacked... She had no way of ever gathering this much money again... It would be a one-way trip.

It was scary, she did not even know if her goddess was venerated in the place she went to, she did not know what she'd do if she could no longer use her powers to help the people out there... However, it was better than slowly waiting for death in the place where she was. So she took the trip to a new world, and arrived at Scribble.

It was... A confusing experience. In there, she could still feel the goddess' presence, it seems even a new world is still within her domain... However, she was unable to properly use the spells she had learned anymore, as if something was wrong, or as if her goddess was there, but could not reach her.

The following weeks had a lot of experimentation, training, feeling as if she was an apprentice again, though this time there was nobody to teach her, she had to learn by herself... Eventually, she was able to re-learn the basics to at least do her priestess functions normally... There was much to improve, but it was a start at least.

However, there was no temple of her goddess in the city for her to join, nor did the people within it seem to have ever heard of her... Yet she still needed to find a way to make a living, though she could not join the local temple to venerate a deity that was not her own, she would not forsake her faith after fleeing for so long due to wishing to keep worshiping the goddess that has been a key part of her since the very beginning of her life.

And so, she joined the Adventurer's Guild. It did not seem fitting for a priestess, but it would have to do for now... Maybe in due time she could make a new temple for believers, but for now, she needed to earn money to eat at least.

What would you guys define as lifestyle magic?
Drying your hair with magic after a bath.
Keeping your skin/hair properly hydrated with magic.
Increasing the growth rate of a given plant in order to make it give fruits twice per harvest season instead of once.
Moving clothes threads in order to fix small cuts or blemishes with magic.
Being able to create small amounts of water with magic. (Very useful to fill buckets without a well or to survive in the desert!)
Creating small sparks to easily lit a fireplace.
Cleaning Magic. (not to be confused with cleansing magic)

I almost finish my long-ass report that never really related to the spy-network, but well, in the end, I still achieved the objective, just a hard and long-winded way to do so. :blob_salute:

The only worry of me is that I'm making Luna somewhat too overpowered now— Well, my way is to make the enemy even more insane to counteract the power level. :blob_okay:

I also want a quest board in Spire Reef that is full of questionable things! :blob_aww: :blob_aww: :blob_aww: :blob_aww:
Finished my first Spire Reef quest. Prepare for some chaos as I would be living there for a while in the next quest, robbing the rich while drinking rums! :blob_aww:
Pirate Reef should be close to opening the region! Only one more quest after @GDLiZy submitted this report!

Although... I won't be able to make quests until the weekend.

A few questions for everyone:
  • What is the threat level?
  • Regional plot for the area?
  • What repeating quests?

Current ideas:
  • The Guild will set up a spy network in Spire Reef. That will be the context of the Quest Board.
  • Quest could follow an "infiltrate a pirate group" tree:
    • Join a pirate crew.
    • Do evil pirate missions -- this is an excuse for having evil quests since the characters are undercover.
  • Slaves in the area are an obvious plot point.
  • Smuggling spices and exotic things to Scribel
  • Could eventually move towards more islands???
I'm leaning towards Spire Reef (the port itself) being Rank E, perhaps level range 4 - 11.

If someone joins a pirate crew and discovers a dangerous island, any more dangerous places can be higher rank.

This also means that Spire Reef would also need a Rank D exam. Need brainstorming for what it might be, given that the theme for the Rank D exam is having a lot of friends dying / sacrifice / death.

Meanwhile, if anyone is willing to start drafting up Guild Quests for Spire Reef and post them here -- that would be helpful! The requirements:
  • Guild quests must be repeatable.
  • Try to aim for an even spread of subjugation / gather / other type quests across each level.
Pirate Ship duel
I do have another suggestion! It was quite common for nations to sponsor pirates to harass and rob their enemies. Perhaps that could be used as well? Also, treasure hunts are a must.
The question is, what other nations are there on the seas at the moment?
'-'

X
Well, we don't know yet - which also means that it is an excellent chance to introduce more nations.
Looking for something with more character development weight.

Spire Reef Quest Board Outline (subject to change)
  • Level 1-3
    • Doing stuff on docks
  • Level 4
    • Hired at a tavern
    • Join a street gang
  • Level 5
    • Join a pirate crew
    • (Pirate) Street fight between rival pirate crews
  • Level 6
    • (Pirate) Gang up a bunch of travelers for money
    • Infiltrate the merchants at the slave market
  • Level 7
    • (Pirate) Kidnap a bunch of people and sell them to the slave market
    • (Pirate) Pieces of the treasure map -- attack a different pirate crew for their fragment of the treasure map
    • (Pirate) Attacking a merchant ship
    • Help some slaves escape
  • Level 8
    • (Pirate) Sail the Grand Line - discovery quest with >1 month time IC
    • (Pirate) Pirate ship battle
  • Level 9
    • (Pirate) Raze and burn a coastal village
  • Rank D Exam
  • Level 10
Hmmm... I think there are "traitor" quests missing. Stuff like secretly giving information, sabotaging operations, causing a mutiny, and assassinating a captain.
Yup! It’s still very thin. Feel free to copy the outline and add more things.

I think the traitor ones should be an exit from the tree. Like there’s some benefit to being a traitor early versus staying longer with the pirates for a bigger fish.
Like reputation?
Or you get negative exp for doing traitor stuff but better rewards!
Well, if you betray your own pirate crew, they wouldn’t want you back to do later quests in the tree, right?
Most certainly. And if you are part of a pirate crew, most people would dislike you.
I’m thinking the Rank D Spire Reef exam could be getting promoted as a Pirate Lieutenant — to infiltrate the Pirate Kings inner circles.

To do this, you have to pass the pirate’s promotion exam, which would be fairly ruthless.

I’m thinking of a hunger game (last one standing), kill your best friend type stuff.
Hmmm... I think pirates would still promote camaraderie, so that might be a tad too extreme.
Battle against Mr. Kraken, Survive an assault from a kraken while your pirate friends are getting pulld over and dying. Also your ship is breaking with every impact :)
Needs to stay in the rank E range still.

Characters are still under level 10.

If players kill a kraken at level 10, what are they going to do at level 40?:sweat_smile::sweat_smile:
It is not a battle, just survive. You cant do shit to kraken chan, you just need to not get killed.
Inb4 someone misreads the quest and just kills the kraken straight out :blob_happy:
Ehem,
YOU, THE QUEST TAKER IS NOWHERE CLOSE TO HURTING A KRAKEN, LET ALONE KILLING IT. YOUR JOB IS TO TRY NOT TO DIE. SURVIVE AND NOTHING MORE.
retrieve treasure from one of sunken shipwrecks in reef, have to go with pirates you "trust". need ppl management and resource management, prevent monsrers, mutiny and starvation,

suggestion
Text: Please don’t kill the kraken

Character: *kills it* :blobspearpeek::blobspearpeek: *flexes extraordinary plot armor*
Ah, I'd also suggest smuggling stuff and, you know, brewing and selling alcohol. Traitor variant: poison a crew's whole supply of alcohol.
more criminal theme, heists, form a team break in ti gelderholm, infernal prison of steel and rescue one of evil criminal incarcerate there.
In either case, I think it’s better not to have a permanent guild level <10 kraken encounter quest. I don’t trust players to not kill a big kraken if they’re given one  I’ve seen too many quest reports of people waltzing in as one-man-armies slaughtering everything.

The easiest solution is simply not to give players a kraken until they’re in the right level range.

It’s easy enough to write a kraken encounter into your own story/quests, and there could be kraken sightings on the custom quest board. It doesn’t need to be a permanent standing guild quest.
weaken the influence of spiral reef, find a way to prevent the ambush of one of the merchant guild trade galleons. infiltrate, find attrack details, create solution to prevent the attack
Level 1:
  • Fishing
  • Make bait
  • Mop the deck (Mop the deck, get rid of barnacles on the ship.)
  • Help prepare seafood (Descale fish, Crack oysters)
  • Hunt the rats (Rats like to hide in the imported produce)
  • Light house duty (Similar to night watch, instead you're helping spotting/navigate ships via light house)
Level 2:
  • Mine for salt in the salt mines
  • Clean the cannons (city defenses)
  • Pest control (get rid of slimegulls) (Flying slimes that can't do combat?)
  • Raise awareness about sunscreen!
Level 3:
  • Dive for treasure!

Level 4:
  • Joined a street gang
    • Collect "Protection Fees"
  • Hired at a tavern
    • Bouncer duty
    • A friendly ear, (Listen in on what people spout when drunk, and report it to the guild.)
  • Learn to sail

Level 5:
  • (Gang) Protect an important member/ supervise a gang deal.
  • (Gang) Look for snitches and punish them.
  • Join a pirate crew
    • Street fight against rival pirate crews
    • Sell of plundered loot
    • Ship maintenance
Level 6:
  • (Pirate) Gang up a bunch of travelers for money
  • (Slave merchant Infiltrate) Infiltrate the merchants at the slave market
    • Capture a slave.
    • Establish connections.
  • Help the local authorities arrest some gang members

Level 7:

Level 9:
  • (Pirate) Raze and burn a coastal village
  • (Gang) Rise to become a gang lieutenant

Rank D Exam
  • Survive the Kraken
  • (Pirate) Sail across a sea, where theres a lot of sea monsters and bad weather
  • (Gang) Take over a territory from another gang.

Level 10

Thoughts? @ohko
I'm finally back! Will be trying to come up with some plot for the Spire Reef.
Sounds Fun! Can't wait to see some cool ideas, so far we got pirates, gangs, and adventurers
And sea monsters, I think. As well as pirates sponsored by various nations.
These look good! If you’re up for it, it’d be great if you started drafting them up into quests.

My main feedback is:
  • Bump up the level 1 quests to maybe 2-4. Spire Reef is supposed to be more dangerous than Scribel City, so the quests should reflect that.
  • Rank D promotion exam needs something that will be character development milestone. The current ones are too trivial and too easy to pass with standard plot armor. The theme for Rank D promotion is:
    • Sacrifice
    • Loss
    • Failure
    • Death of allies/friends
    • Loss of innocence
I don’t want any character to pass the Rank D exam without feeling a major sense of loss or defeat. The exam should be structured in a way that forces a metaphorical defeat for the character, even if they have a nominal victory.

Basically, I’m looking for something emotionally heavier / darker. Ideas could include exploring themes like betrayal, pushing your character to do something evil/dark or

See above! Glad to see what people come up with!

Up to you!

Optional!
I thought we were talking about in the Spire Reef - a place that smuggles tons of goods on a daily basis.
'-'
I would have thought if you'd infiltrated a pirate ship and crew you'd not have that high a cost of living as somewhere that is currently experiencing war.
'-'

X
Idea:

1. Spire Reef is built upon a secret treasure, that protects the town against the Kraken. A bounty has been placed on this item (by a certain organisation) , high enough to attract all sorts of miscreants (Gangs, Pirates). Clues are scattered all around town, and it is up to the adventurers to find these clues and destroy them (If Possible).
So, I made the power structure of the Spire Reef sea as the Black Sea, where Seven Pirate Kings, also known as the Scourge of the Seven Seas, ruled over with their iron fist regime. The Black Sea, encompassed an extremely large amount of water body, got sliced into 7 parts, each ruled by the Seven Pirate Kings. Only one Pirate King was named at the moment, named One-Eyed Snake King.

Here's some reference for the 'pirate language' and the inner working of the pirate ship:
The main focus of the guild would be the event where the Seven Pirate Kings came in contact with the Underwater Kingdom of Merfolks, Sirens, Naga etc. where they sought to trade and make peace on the surface. However, underneath the peace treaty, they tried to obtain "the great artefact that protected their kingdom from the King of the Black Sea, the Kraken". That's the overall situation I thought about, is it big and expansive enough for a region?
Now all we have to do is defeat each one of them to gain the map to obtain the one piece!

Also if someone wants they can furthur expand it. After all this doesn't cover the gangs of Spiral Reef
