What do you usually start with when drawing the map?
Do you use reference pics?

Well, I usually have two modus operandi for making maps, I guess? More recently I've been working on reading on geology/geography and doing maps from some rough tectonic plates. But more generally I make more 'freestyle' artistic maps with not that much adherence to that~

But, in general, I start my maps with a general idea of what I want to have. Like, how many continents (or at least big continents I want), will they be connected, will they be close or far from each other, where they will be placed and so on. After that, it's mostly a personal process of trial and error. I draw some forms, see if I'm satisfied with how they look, erase and replace parts I'm not satisfied with and so on.

As for reference pics, I like looking at the elevation/topographic maps of the Americas (north and south) and maybe draw some inspiration from those, I guess? But I mostly go with what I feel that looks good. Of course, when I'm making more localized, region specific maps, I do like to search for interesting geographic features. Specially with coastal islands, natural harbors and so on~

What I do recommend is to never give up on a map no matter how bad it may look at first. I did my fair share of bad and amateurish maps (and my maps are still quite bad an amateurish in my eyes), but using old maps as reference to improve your skill is part of the process~

Well, after looking at them again, they were rather realistic, tbh. So I didn't complain on the end :D

Oh, also, what would the consequences of creating and leading a gang be? Gang as in extorting protection money and stuff. I'm, uh, asking for a friend.
The game is really freeform so I’ll leave it to you to figure out!

You mean your friend will~ *whistles*
Yes, I will.

Thank you very much friend @Quaesitor for legitimately asking it for me.

It was me who asked, and this is totally not a cover up for him.
Ah, I was actually referring to something else with the figure it out, you know? Like, totally. Namely how it might be possible to rename buildings and locations with paperwork and red tape. This one is even more important at the moment, tbh.

Blinking my eyes at the strangely moe gesture I shook my head "It's nice to meet you Miss Nene, It's just that I've never seen someone where I came from with such, warm looking ears?" Warm looking ears? What's that mean Ahghhhh! I kept a straight face though, only the tiniest of a faint blush could be seen on my cheeks.

Can't suck blood from what has none!

Jokes aside, the exact scope and modus operandi of the gang is not decided yet. I was more referring to legal consequences and quests one might be unable to take.
Oh, for my sake, try not to break the existing guild quests without talking to a bunch of people first. I don’t want to need to rewrite everything all the time :sweating_profusely:

My line of reasoning simply is - would you trust a known gangster with collecting money and doing paperwork?
