Is a Story about an Immortal, trying to unalive himself and failed because of his instant regeneration until he gives up and try adapting the new incoming eras and finally found the peace he ever hope for after countless of deaths he has in the ancient times and found the love of his life that made them together until the end and he notice the curse of immortality disappeared and he can finally die with his wife, generic?

Just asking because I may have to change the story if it is.

I purposely typed that in nonsense because that's gonna be the plot of the one-shot novel.

This "trope", idk, I've seen it before, somewhere, MANY TIMES. Just look at mythology and the other media regarding it, this concept is done so much that "immortal trying to find a way to die" is staple, immortal falling in love is a cherry on top, curse lifting just in time for immortal to die happily is hell of a lot of a deus ex machina, satisfying and predictable

Just as(s)-king
hehehe
Ignore me. I had nothing to add. My juvenile sense of humour just reared its ugly head, and I didn't manage to hold it back.

If you wrote it a dozens years ago, on royalroad
it could have caught on in popularity
but rn ? probably not

Especially on SH where most readers are only here for smut. Bc there are 3859513952385 JP/KR/CH series out there to read.

Generic but the twist he dies is original. AND VERY WHOLESOME. Which is better than the annoying overdone trope he is still alive and kicking and mega depressed/dead-living-uncaring bc he lived eons.

The earliest famous work about immortality.
Is the famous cheapest sci-fi movie "The man from earth"
where teacher man quit job and try to ask his colleagues that came if he could debunk the fact he is immortal with just words.

As a oneshot. Could be nice though. But depends where to post.
You have better luck making it into a series, by
OR going drama route (kr or jp style) = in the vein of little busters or CLANNAD anime coughMAEDAJUNcough
OR smut OR fighting (xianxia or note) route plot

Anyway if you got free time. Try writing it. Its training the key to success.

Frankly, I genuinely hate this kind of development. It just grates me that some people would see death as a good ending in such a scenario. But well, we're not here on about that.

If it's generic... I'm not sure. But it's definitely been used many times, so it's nothing remotely original.

I have seen this plot before. Even your "plot-twist". But if you're going to write it, think why you are writing.
The story might not be original in the sense of a unique plot, but depending on how you approach it, it can be a unique story. Does it matter that I've read it a hundred times? Yes, it matters. It is a story that finds resonance with people. Who does not wish they were Immortal, and then, what do you do with your Immortality. These are things that will probably be ever present in people's imagination until they themselves become Immortal and resolve for themselves that.

A story does not have to be original to be interesting, it depends on your skill as a writer to be able to pull it off uniquely enough for it to be interest. So if it were up to me, does it matter that a story is not unique? No. It will depend on how well you write. That will give value to your story, and not so much if the plot has been explored before or if it is a popular topic.

Can you, as a writer, make this story appealing enough for people to want to read it?

holy run on sentence.

While I would say it is a rather generic trope, I'm going to piggy back off Tsumi up there. It's up to you on how you write your script and play out your story. While the trope and the idea isn't original, your specific story may be. How your characters grow/develop, how they interact, the situations you define and play out--it all makes your story different. In other words-

"Fuck it, we ball". Send it and have fun with it. Do you, fam.

Ok, then. I'll never forget about character developments and the secret plot behind his power .
