MC with their pet

I'm looking for stories that focuses on the protagonist's journey with their pet, sort of like Ash and Pikachu from Yugioh. Preferably fantasy, doesn't have to be an isekai. The pet could be an animal or a monster (no human pets pls).

Any recommendations? Novels, manga or anime, they're all okay. As long as the main focus is the protagonist and their pet.

Edit: I feel like I should clarify.

I'm not looking for summoner MC stories or MC that just so happens to have a pet. I'm looking for a story that really focuses on the journey/the relationship of the MC and their one lovable pet (or two).

Not exactly the main focus, but...

I Shall Survive Using Potions has a pretty interesting relationship between the MC and her horse, although the horse only comes into the picture after the 1st major conflict in the series.
