When does a newly posted story show up?

May seem like a strange question, but I like to do things a bit more slowly on occasion. And since I just started working out the lore in my brain, I was thinking of preparing the book, but no chapters yet, just so I can figure out the basics, like summary, what tags and genre to choose, etc.
Anyway, does anyone have experience with when SH shows a new story? If you don't have a chapter yet, will it still be shown in latest stories, since the book itself was created? And if not, since there is no actual chapter, will it not be shown in latest stories once a chapter comes out, since it's not technically "new"?
I thought I would ask before I do something stupid. :blob_cookie: :sweating_profusely:

When Tony approves your new story, it shall appear on the front page and with the other new stories he approves.

If it doesn't have a chapter, it likely won't populate on the front page until you post a chapter. If at all. I think you're required to at least have one chapter so it can be verified that it fits the tags provided.

Yeah, that's my point. Since I can't save my chosen options for later, I would add a new series, but I don't want it to show up until I have a few chapters in stock. You know what I mean? That's basically why I was asking.

:blob_hmm_two: I think I would just hold off to making the story until you're ready then. You certainly can add the story, as going through the Create system doesn't require me to add a chapter. I just made a Test book and it populated in my list of available Series, even without a chapter.

It takes around 24 hours to get your story approved. Usually less, but if there is a lot of new stories, it might take more time, and your story can be missed. Plus, some kind of bug might appear.

No, seriously though. I just throw my story with a single chapter on so that I can figure the tags out, and I prefer writing and saving drafts on SH.
Like what I did with my second story. I wrote a 700 words prologue and threw it on here, people will read if they want to read. That was my thought process.
But that's just me, if you want to 'prepare' the book, I'd say just save it.

I know, that's why I was asking if the story would show up if I did that or if it later wouldn't show up, as it wouldn't be "new" anymore. In other words, I just wanted to do that part of the work now, but don't know when I will actually have the chapters ready. But yeah, thanks for your help anyway.

I know, that wasn't the question. But still thanks for the answer ^^

That's what I didn't want to do, because that would lead to another story with a funky update schedule, but I guess I will have to, in this case. Thanks for your input.
If you want to wait until 5 chapters are ready (which I also always suggest in my tutorials as the minimum to start a story) then simply write the five chapters before creating it.
I don't necessarily wait until I have 5 chapters (or, well, sometimes I like to have more, if I know I won't have much time going forward or it's a story which takes me longer to write) but the reason I asked was because I wanted to sort all of that pro forma stuff out, but since I don't have a chapter yet, I wasn't sure if it would hurt the story in the long run, if I did that.

In the end, I just did as you said and posted it after all, with just the prologue. Well, let's see how funky the schedule is going to be :blob_melt: :blob_cookie:
