All so I can go home after work, sit down in front of my computer, put on some music, and turn the rest of the world off for just a few hours. Or call home and talk to the only people I honestly care for and give me a reason to keep living. Or go to the gym and use the movement of weight as a therapy because physical effort and pain reminds me that I'm still here and not just a ghost faking his own existence.
....I really need a dog.

Oh, wait. That's also your first post that's actively contributed to this thread.

And it's only got my name at the top of it all the important bits. That's crazy.

Emotions are rampant in human history, human culture, and human interaction from a societal level down to an individual conversation between two people. However, there are societal pressures and "rules" we must follow to avoid being outcasted.
I'd like to add that emotions aren't specific to humans, rather it's built-in in every social species to varying degree. Emotions are litteraly built-in evolutionary survival tool to avoid you from fucking yourself out of the tribe and die alone.

For instance, some monkeys forage for food in group, and some might be tempted to hide it away to monopolize it, but the moment other monkeys discover it, they'll tear the selfish monkey apart.

However, genes always seek out to outplay competition, so humans are also built-in with selfish impulses even though they live in group.

In today's society, if an individual doesn't feel much emotions but are smart enough to understand what's the better for them in the long term (and not put them in prison), they can live the best life. Just look at CEO lol. In conclusion, emotions are optional but you'd have to study how they manifest into the cultural rules and practices because they are methods of social cooperations that emerged from quite a bit of evolution and trials.

I always found it fascinating to see emotional responses in other animals. Their responses to environment and communities they live in. Signs that we aren't the only intelligent species on the planet but we're just the lucky first to put the pieces together.

Yep, I read something about how humans got the headstart thanks to fire (cooking) to get nutrient much easier, which allowed more resources to be spent on brains instead of digestive system. Then social survival supposedly put an evolutionary pressure to improve the brain (to keep track of all individuals)

You can see the polar opposite in koalas for instance, their diet is extremely inefficient and litteraly poison themselves and have to rely on gut bacteria passed down from koala poop. They're not specifically social and spent all day eating leaves and sleeping, besides their brain has evolved to be as smooth as possible to counter fall damage in case they slip from their tree.

Octopus are weird because they are very intelligent but they don't live in social groups. It could be because their camouflage might be brain intensive.

I think emotions do exist but everybody just has different experiences with them thus a different opinion.

I see emotions as entertainment and emotional connections are too just entertainment, some can be emotional manipulated for special reactions, which in itself is even more entertaining. I have can somewhat manipulate and control my emotions but sometimes emotions just feel weird like why I'm crying for no fucking reasons sometimes? At least it's entertaining to see people suffer.

Y'all need to find God.
God is dead.

Sorry you are right god isn't dead. How could something die that presumably only exist in fiction and in the fiction itself immortal is, thus god can only be killed if nobody knows him but how do you achieve something like this without genocide. If we consider what god means today and what it meant centuries ago then is it possible to say that god is in decline because atheism and nihilism is truly thriving, even the symbol against god got two religions, even if the second doesn't worship it but sees it more as a symbol or idol.
