Wholly dependent on who it is subjected to. Someone who is very conscious of their sex, or has a significant other and would be a devastating change for them would probably not go with it.


But someone who's got nothing to lose only to gain, they are not thinking about "happy life with wife/husband and children" but immediate survival.


There's no wrong choice here, only how it is handled later on. A promiscuous mc getting this and "suddenly" gets another cheat that negates it after a while then it beats the purpose of limitations and balancing.

You need to stick with whatever impossible situation you set the mc for, that's one of the key to have readers hooked to find out how mc will handle it.

The hero and gang have superpower but they all have their respective price.

The warrior never dies or tires, but he can never feel joy or glory.
The healer can heals good, but she can never ignore a cry for help, even of her enemies.
The thief can stop time but I forgot what was his price.
The hero becomes a symbol and lost all her humanity.

So yeah, a price for an invincible battle body... losing a piece of yourself sounds like fun. Or you know, randomly flies into blinding rage so much so that no one will ever be near you for the fear of death.

Oh my sweet summer child... No genitalia by no means equals no sex. Got a tongue? Fingers? I mean that hero, as defined, never gets tired, that's enough for them to be a very interesting sexual partner!

You want to be cruel and put an actual price on the power? Leave them their naughty bits, grant them the power, increase their libido to ten times horny teenager, add "so long as you have this power, people of your preferred gender find you very attractive" and add a condition: "you can only keep that power as long as you don't have sex nor self-pleasure". Now we're talking cursed.

If that power is bestowed by a higher power related to love or sex, you can have them add a carrot to the stick in order to better control the hero.

Something like "each time you do my bidding (succeed at a quest, defeat my ennemies, spread the word of my cult, etc...), I will grant you an exception to the "no sex" rule. Depending on the scale of the accomplishment, it can be a single time, a few hours, days, a specific person or a combination of the above." would work wonders to keep the hero on the right track for their God(dess).

Warning: that option will very quickly lead to smut, unless the hero is very determined in their chastity.

Like... Unless this actively affected their body image and how comfortable they feel with their body, this wouldn't be a troublesome issue for most.

I mean, think about it, your libido is directly connected to your genitalia and the associated hormones it generates, so... Without it, you wouldn't particularly care about sex?

The main issues are possible body dysmorphia and in case a character wants a child that is biologically connected to them (since they can just adopt otherwise)... Ah, and I guess they might be unable to get in a relationship with some partners, depending on how important sex is for said partners.

So uhn... It needs a specific kind of story to matter? Otherwise the issues are mostly irrelevant.
