Since the OP decided to share, might as well also throw out a few of mine I am particularly fond of.
Those are wicked!! :D
Although I would like to commission an artist to create a good design for the characters of my novel, with my budget of 0 dollars, well it's difficult.

So I'm going with the affordable option. Which doesn't give 100% of what I have in mind, but it's close enough.

Now, I also try to get a good image that is not so obviously made by AI, while I edit them and make some personal adjustments in case I find some errors or something super specific that I am looking for.

The problem is that I am compulsive obsessive and inconsiderate when it comes to spending time trying to get the ideal image of what I need.

But I think my results are pretty good.
I love these pics. ❤️ I know what you mean though, it never comes out exactly how you want but it's better then nothing I guess. AI isn't perfect but it'll do.

I know an AI photo generator website and I used one of them as my book cover in other novel reading/writing site (only few people read it tho). But sometimes, I kind of feel bad for the actual artist. At the same time, since I don't have money, I had no choice but to rely on AI. As for my other story's book cover, I find some photos in pinterest and put some "credits to the real owner". Kinda feel wrong to me, dunno why. And as for AI photo generator, its hard to make one because you need to write some description. And when your done writing your description, the result is too far from your expectations and the words you wrote in the description. That's why it's easy to say that an art is AI generated because of some little mistake created by AI.

Here are some few of my AI generated photos:

I get what you mean. Most of the ones I did were through an app, I just put in a bunch of random free stock photos and an occasional celebrity photo. I found out that if you put all one face in, you just get that face in random styles. But by putting in a few different, but "similar" faces it sort of melds them together THEN sticks all the random styles on them. ? It is difficult getting exactly what you want though, AI isn't so good on that front thats for sure.

I'd love to have the patience and time to draw my own or have them commissioned but it's not gonna happen. Any time soon at least. I will say though, Morrigan up there is actually me. I was writing Coven as a screenplay with the totally narcissistic notion I could star in it. (I am an actor though.) So I just barreled a load of photos of my egotistical mush in there and that's what I got. It's great, the AI give me a friggin' jawline. ?
I mean, that's one way to do it. But I don't really want to put in pictures of real-life people, especially since nobody would be fitting for it. And AI with Text to Image doesn't work the way I wish it would.

Btw I find it interesting that you wrote your own screenplay. I don't think narcissism is inherently a bad thing for actors, though it's not a positive trait on average, you have to be a bit narcissistic to spur your own performance, to want everybody to see you and not feel ashamed. Not that that can't happen anyway, but I believe it's the best carreer path with this trait. Also, just because you have the ambition, I wouldn't even call that egotistical or anything like that. I hope you will actaully land some sponsors to realize your play one day. I'm rooting for you.
And yes, that thing about the patience and time to draw is basically it. At the same time, I have a problem with drawing anyway, so it's not JUST that. It's not like I can't draw at all, I went to an Art school once upon a time, but I have the problem of my brain being incapable of remembering shapes. When I understand something, I can somewhat reciprocate it, for example, once I understood anatomy, I could draw a body. Before that, I could tell you a person has two arms and two legs, but when trying to draw them, it looked odd. As long as there wasn't some real person standing deadass next to my easel, I couldn't even tell you what looked weird, because had I known, I wouldn't have made the mistake. That's where we are at, I can't tell you what a human looks like, unless I have one in front of me. Just a random story, to paint the picture of how bad it is with my shape recognition. I'd probably do a good Picasso, but even Picasso I couldn't copy unless a picture was next to me.
Anyway, I can't even explain something in a more or less concise way, unless I look at it directly. Which is why, ironically, I try to realize Tattoos or certain objects, in order to be able to describe them in my story. Before they are on paper somehow, their shape just changes in my mind, it's as if I see it, but I don't really see it. On that note, I'd be intrigued of what other people saw if they were able to peak into my mind. I would never be able to draw a character twice the same, which is also why I couldn't do a Manga or Comic. For something with more details, as a person would be, having someone else fill in the blanks, when I'm like "It needs to be like [this] and [that]" is way more effective and makes more sense.
Sorry for that rambling rant here, got longer than I thought it would be, but It's annoying to me that my brain doesn't do what I want it to do. It's frustrating.

Nope, but I do have saved prompts for every character of mine and use the same checkpoint file for them.
Never tried stabble since my pc won't support it. I wish niji have a function like this, it's hard to make different pose or image of the same character since their face keep changing each time, even with the same pormpt and using the image as a base for it.

Oh I'm sorta the opposite, I have a good idea of who I would want to play certain characters. I did however at my acting classes during a workshop we were doing on character development, bring in the female lead from my story Living in the Fray just to sort of "put her out in the world" and as a physical character; I got good feedback on her as a fleshed out character. But Fray isn't the most read of either of my stories which makes me a bit sad. :/

And don't worry abut the rambling it's okay. :) The brain image-to-pencil struggle is real. I have great admiration (and a hint of jealousy) for people that can just draw or paint and have their finished product look the way they intended and be legible for other people eyes. This is why I can kinda get behind AI for doing what I personally can't do and/or am unable to commission and pay for someone else to do it. And like you mentioned Picasso, my head is pure Dali most of the time I bet anything I draw is all droopy and full of feckin' sand. XD

These characters aren't as I imagined, but if all the details are accurate then I'd take it.

Why is the dude's head so smol
I genuinely couldn’t tell you. That one was one of the pics I put to a vote. I have a minor character that has an inexplicable fan club and that pic is what people decided they liked for Tony the promoted starting zone thug.
