I write in google keep. It's a cloud saving note taking app. I write on my phone and edit in google keep on my pc cuz i got the grammar ly plugin installed on it.

There aren't really many tutorials for Obsidian, and most of them are for note taking, oof. Really, the best help I can give you is just giving you list of all of the plugins that I use.

(I don't use ALL of them, but I do use most of the ones for writing. If you don't use it already, the Longform plugin is what I use to write novels.)

My ADHD requires me to make everyone as optimized as possible... Or is that OCD?... Well, yeah, lots of plugins, but they do help a lot. For instance, Completr is an autocomplete plugin. Like when you write an email and gmail helps you auto write some words. Great for dyslexia, as I misspell or write the entire wrong words sometimes, oof.

It does sound great, I just looked at Obsidian as well, but aside from the fact that it's probably costly once you actually want to use it to its fullest, I literally caved in seeing how complex it is. I suffer from a bit of a duality when it comes to computer programs and services. One the one hand, I can use almost every device, once I've held something similar in my hands before, just like every child grown up in today's technical world. But as soon as I see a social media site, or any type of program on the computer, honestly, my brain just farts and vacates the country.

LibreOffice since Word broke on me for the final time. I'm not reinstalling it for the 5th time!

Discord and Purewriter for phone stuff. Discord is mostly for file transfers between stuff like compu/phone/docs/outlook

As for costly, do you mean price, or performance? As long as you work alone, it is completely free, even for commercial use. As for performance, it runs great, even with many plugins being used at the same time.

And when it comes to learning a piece of software, you just have to learn it piece by piece. Like with learning a skill or language, you never set out to learn it all in one go. I mean, if ya did, it wouldn't work out well in the end, haha.

It was the same when I looked at Photoshop for the first time, maybe 15 years ago. When I sat back in front of it 5 years later, it suddenly seemed so simply and easy to use, right off the bat. But the first time I opened it, I closed it the moment it was open and didn't come back until 5 years had passed.
So, imagine me looking at just the front page of the Obsidian website and starting to sweat.

I mean, I did download it on my computer and on my phone, just for good measure. I don't think I will be using it on my computer though, as I have seen it doen't share to the version on my phone - synch is something you have to pay for. If it works for me, or well, if I get used to it, maybe that's something I would consider, since I took a quick glance and it's cheap. Still, I don't know, I use Word, which is just as good. Except for that plug in that supposedly shows your typing speed, that would truly interest me. And on my phone, that blur, Privacy Glasses, is definitely of interest when I write on public transport or at work. LOL.

Wow, I just started using Obsidian recently to edit my drafts and this is a really useful list. I had no idea about Smart Typography and Longform, in particular -- those are very useful. Thank you. (What, no Thesaurus? Is the Obsidian thesaurus bad?)

As for what I use to write:
Before Obsidian I was mostly editing in Word, because I like to use ProWritingAid for grammar. But I just discovered ProWritingAid also works in Obsidian.

And of course because I am approximately 45% robot my drafts are made in a special LLM editing program.
