This is clearly out of your control. I don't think you should delete your novel as it won't stop you from thinking about stuff that angers you, but I do think you need a prolonged break.

Sorry for misundersting this. I'm just used to people liking replies to show they've at least read it. Now that I think about it, I was wrong. Not everyone do it.

But just as how you can infer others' words to your terms, people can do the same to yours as well. And if you genuinely feel that ScribbleHub is not a place for you, the internet is a big place. Or you know, meet people IRL in book meetings or some other socializing study meetings and see if you can find an audience that is more reciprocate to your work.

Threating to delete your work and hold people in this website accountable is horrible. I am still having people making suicide threats to try and keep me in line IRL. And I really want to be the one to push her over the balcony right now.

Do you see what I mean? Every single time I try to be a bit more friendly or I try to make a normal thread everyone starts going off-topic and shiting on me. Even when I go out of my way to ask everyone to forget about the previous fights, they just won't let me. Do you understand why I'm always so hostile to this forum?

I was thinking about how to reply to all the people that were actually posting about the topic of this thread but there were too many and I wasn't sure, then I get interrupted by all kinds of accusations. And if I reply to these accusations I'll be accused of "ignoring the people that were trying to be friendly". I just cannot win here.

To be clear, I said that people were telling me to delete my novel to point out how far all of this had gotten because I felt that they were actually making a good point but I wasn't sure if they just wanted to kick me out to get rid of me. Why cannot I even describe what happened without being accused of trying to make people look bad?

And this is not the first time someone tells me "You should delete your novel" I respond "Maybe you have a point, and then I get accused of "threatening to delete my novel" as if I was trying to manipulate other people WHEN I'M NOT EVEN THE ONE BO BROUGHT OUT THE TOPIC IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Imagine you're playing a 4X game, you declare war on your ally, then you unilateraly request peace. You dun goofed up bro. People also tried to make peace with you, but did something change since then?

It's funny because you treat the forum as a whole, a collective hivemind out to get to you. Do you think we're having a secret meeting to decide to shit on you? If you want to change public sentiment you have to persevere through or ignore the few antagonists, while building up a history of good reputation. Only then, their attitude will change. Not the other way around. So far, it's a downward spiral where you're constantly worsening your reputation.

To return on the topic of dragon being slaughterer scott free.
I can imagine that in a fantasy world, they could be treated as forces of nature, calamities, that must be treated with absolute care.
In that specific context, humans who lived in coexistence with dragons might see them like a earthquake or a storm, and not attribute any moral. Or even further, think that the dragons are part of god's will, so exerting their absolute might is their right. Like how a flood would be a reckoning of sins. Concept of morality is hard to define in this context, so if the author doesn't build it thoroughly, there's no need to read further into it.
It doesn't mean that no one would hate the dragon tho.

To be honest, I think that in written works, there needs to be a clear good guy/ bad guy because it is easier for the readers.

You can make it complicated, with the italics "can" because then keeping track will be a mental gymnastic that I hate. Take Worth the Candle, half the times the relations are flung up and down and round about until I just said "damn this to dropped hell" and drop the work. I like my good guys good and bad guys bad, their objective can be as simple as "I want to" to complex ones like "being good equals to becoming lord".

Also, I hate that beastkins are seen as "pure" and "good" as well. Because to me, they are backwards, not "good". You don't call a barbaric tribes "good", you just call them "simple" or "naive". For the record, they are "naive" not because they are stupid, but because they don't know. I am sure if they scheme daily, they will be just as bad as "humans", except they also have improved body functions.

As for a "superior race being mean" thing... you can look at humans.

Humanity is the worst thing, so far, that is born into this world.

My problem is not that it happens, my problem is that many novels try to make it look like it's not a bad thing.

You may have a point when you attack what is popular on SH, but SH's problem isn't genocide, It's smut.

There are a lot of common big problems in web novels that I don't feel the need to talk about since a lot of people are already constantly pointing them out.

I don't think that a lot of writers, especially new ones, are going to be willing to put away most of what you have issues with as those are easy ways of throwing in stuff into the story for tension and a clear side to root for

It feels to me that it would be easier for writers to make the good guys the underdogs, it helps to make them more sympathetic.

I think humans being the weakest AND the worst could be a really interesting dynamic.

For example, humans might be the worst BECAUSE they are the weakest. Being lowest on the totem pole causes stress, aggravation, and in-fighting. Like when a particular species of animal kills each other over food because they don’t have enough of it to go around. Resource limitation can cause lots of yuckiness in the animal world including incest, cannibalism, etc. It would make sense that should humans be put into these situations, we would face the same issues.

None of the novels that do this get even close to that level of complexity.

Humans have been the top of the food chain for so long, having fantasy races be stronger allows for a real sense of crisis. Having them be “better” can also play into feeling of inferiority, highlight where humans fall short of what we could be, etc. This allows for easier social commentary by example.

The sense of crisis thing only makes sense if the humans are the protagonists, if the humans are the bad guys it's the opposite.

I feel like making the other races good because their race is good is the wrong kind of social commentary...
