If a giant spider, about the size of a horse, were to swallow a child, would it swallow from the head or feet? I know spiders usually drink their victims but shhhhh

Unless the child walks on their hands, then I'm sure it'll go for the head 9/10 times. Whichever's closest to the mouth is naturally going to be eaten first.

Neither. They burrow into the childs chest and lay their eggs.

Most animals that hunt down prey and est them would start with the limbs so the prey cannot escape. So it would be arms or legs first, but most preditors would tear off the limbs.

If a pack animal, they alpha would start with the chest, often seeking out the heart and liver for the superior nutrients, then the rest of the pack would tear it apart.

However, most insect preditors seek to reproduce, so the wrapping up of prey in webs and injecting the mummified baby with eggs that eat their way out of the torso is the most likely outcome.

Now what you are thinking of is a snake. Snakes start with the head. The limbs fold down for most creatures, making it easier to swallow, as well as once you cut off air, they stop struggling.

Nightmare creatures that enjoy terror would start with the feet so the prey can struggle more. But that's only for fun, not for feeding. An animal would want to be practical.

Why not pick a middle ground and say go for the torso?

It is the largest area compared to the limbs (legs and head) and if spiders want to inject venom and digestive fluid, that is where they target.

The head would be the next option, not out of kindness or efficiency, but rather size when compared to legs.

It wouldn't do either but going off of what would happen in some horror story it would be from the feat so we can see the victim screaming in agony as they're being eaten.

Spiders are efficient creatures. They would likely kill the victim, then consume it. (Normally they paralyze and keep it around for a while to have a tasty treat) But since this one is a fantasy spider... head first

If it were me, leg first. That way there's a chance of survival.
So if you were a giant spider, you would want to give your prey a chance of survival? That's either really messed up or really stupid. Probably both.
