Nice.

Darwin did said about survival of the fittest.

Now, does the realm below us hold NFTs and bitcoin?
They introduced this shit into the the brains of the masses. Come on, I thought it was obvious

The opening story in the virtual adept's tradition book for Mage The Ascension 1st edition.

EDIT:

Information Glut
- Virtual Adept Tradition Book page 62
Spheres: Mind 3, Correspondence 2, Time 2
Desc: Each success increases the target's perception by +1 up to truly insane levels. When used in conjunction with torture, it makes it near impossible to not succumb to the pain. However, it can be focused on just one sense, allowing the mage to use it on himself as well for more humane purposes.

In the story, a VA has this used on him for days on every sense, so when it is turned off, all of his senses are burned out, thus leaving him permanently in sensory deprivation.

Oopf. Details on what happened next?
Oh yeah, doesn't Mysterio count? The one from Marvel?
Cuz illusion?

It is more of tricking your senses than taking them away.

Technically Mysterio can't take away sense because he's a spider-man villain and illusions don't work on spidey-sense.

He is saved, but the other VAs say it would take weeks to fix his senses, so he winds up walking around with devices that are basically permanent information glut so he can function. The exception is when he is in his VR rig. So his new hobby is to track down New World Order MiBs and subject them to Information Glut until they die while listening to them scream the whole time.

He remarks that he has to trickle water down their throats lest they shred their vocal cords too soon and they just make heaving sounds instead of proper screaming. Unlike the MiBs that did it to him, he doesn't bother with interrogation. He just turns it on and leaves it on.

Yes, I am explaining why I am not considering mysterio in this case.

I am looking for those works that feature senses being robbed.

well I'm sure there must be at least one wacky villain with this power in the comic books
Vertigo would technically qualify as a sensory deprivation villain, as his ability is to take away your sense of balance.
BTW, I still maintain there are 6 senses, as your sense of balance IS a sense that does not fall under the other 5, even if some people debate that it falls under touch.

There is also the sense of where one's limbs are.

Basically, a lot more.

Depends on the writer. Mysterio can plunge you into darkness, however, so could anyone with a smoke bomb. Since we are talking about removing senses, not removing the light around you, he would not qualify.

No, that does fall under touch. Your sense of balance is a specific structure in your ear.

Well, that's just how irl sense deprivation works (unless it doesn't), so at least he can deprive your sense of vision

The debate is, does your sense of balance falls under hearing (it does not, even if it is in your ear), touch (It does use the same nerves as your skin, and this is the official designation), or if it is its own sense. (I believe that since it has its own unique structure for detecting positioning, it is a sixth sense, but the medical community disagrees. They go off the type of cell doing the detecting. It is technically a form of touch.

But that's not a superpower. Or am I misunderstanding the request?

No you have not mistaken.

That is a technical yes but not what I am looking for.

Technically a blindfold and a pair of earplugs can do sensory deprivation, but I am not looking at those.

I mean, despite his lack of actual superpowers, Mysterio does count as a supervillain, which I guess can be attributed to his exceptional skills. (Most) Anybody can blindfold another person, but can anybody blindfold spiderman mid-fight?

Touche.

I often thought his illusions with tech is too superpowery (if you understand what I mean) and in old cartoons his tricks can even fool the spidey sense.

But once again, looking for robbing senses.

Yes Mysterio can technically count but so can Aizen in this case. So no.

Clap clap clap.

The former is a complete psycho that is beloved by all weebs while the most badass thing done by the latter is tricking Logan to kill off the X Men.

But @ControversialOpinion , please don't tilt the topic into fluffing Aizen and Mysterio, I am looking for works that contain people with the superpower to rob senses (the common five senses).

The power is rarely seen at all.

Yes, that Logan feat is what makes him badass. You just reminded me that people I don't like like Aizen tough so forget the Aizen comment.
