You and a complete stranger have been kidnapped by an anarchist freak. He has offered you a choice. He will let you go free $1 million richer or you can choose for the other guy to go free $1 million richer. He makes sure you're aware that he will brutally torture whoever stays for the next 10 years before killing.

If I just give the money to the other guy, he'll inevitably succumb to depravity as a boon given out of nowhere can be a tragedy.
Having them go through this experience will only temper them.
The maniac will need correction too. I will do a radical action of love and care and use both of them for my magical experiments and trust that the maniac prepared measures to hide his tracks well.
The things I do for others, I really am too kind.

My first reaction in this situation is that it’s absolutely a trick of some kind and I can’t trust anything this “anarchist freak” says, so why would I cooperate in any way? You’re not getting what you want, anarchist freak. Too bad for you, give up — unless you just wanted to torture people all along, in which case that’s what you’d find a way to do anyway.

I'll get the money and stay with the anarchist to watch the torture. Maybe even getting some insight so I could do the same thing to some unfortunate people.

I think for myself first, if it involves my survival and well being then fuck all other people.

Can't torture if I'm already dead. Don't care about the other guy. In fact, fuck him, his existence doesn't affect me in any perceivable way. I'm already dead anyway.
