I ask Simply because I've had a run of bad luck the last 24hrs nothing major but it is a string of consistent incidents that has made me wonder and not for the first time if "luck" or something similar to it is real

Nope. I'm a believer of hard work and determination though.

And yes, it does happen, those strings of bad incidents...I don't believe it's all about luck.

I don't really believe in luck perse, but hard work and determination aren't the only things required to accomplish something. The "luck" is also dependent on your timing, who you know, circumstances, etc.

I think probability would be a better word. I believe in probability. There's a chance, however slim, that my story will hit the trending tab, and there's also a chance of me falling down the stairs and breaking my ankle. So, all those bad things happened to you by chance.

But when the probability ends up bad for us we call it "bad luck", and when good things happen we say it's "good luck". Luck is like a belief system based on probability. Expectations are really what define luck. If I expect something good to happen but the opposite occurs, is that "bad luck"? If I expect a normal day, and it starts raining I curse my "bad luck". In reality, the rain was not defined by luck at all, but the fact that it happens is unlucky.

Like I said nothing major just little things
I just hit about 98% of all red lights today while driving all around town and everyone on the road drove slower than the speed limit while also cutting me off whenever I tried passing them and when I was cooking food this morning I was confident I had all of the ingredients for it until about half way through cooking and had to go to the store but they were all out of what I needed and then I ordered food for dinner from a restaurant and when I went to pick it up they said they were all out of what I had ordered

Lol and now as I type this out on my phone I keep on fat fingering the post it button

Depends on how you look at it. If you take the coincidence as it is, you can call it luck; if you put more thought into it and try to find how it all works, it's not luck anymore. Then again, it's a matter of perspective. Perspective is everything. For if there's no perspective, there's no reality.

I don't know. I believe that it depends on how you use the term luck. If you're lucky at games then it isn't really luck but if you're lucky that you weren't fired for messing up at work then that may be luck.

You meant luck as a finite budget of good occurrence that depletes itself when you break a mirror, leave an umbrella open indoor, or walk under a ladder? Something like that?

Pretty sure whatever you would be ritual sacrificing isn't very lucky
