Yo that story type is actually trash. Though I don't know why this guy can't sleep at night because of it.

Edit: Different guy apparently.

What are you talking about? I even gave you recommendations in that thread.

Because my position is basically that "genocide against an 'inferior race' is bad" and I don't understand how that can be so unpopular that just stating it gets people to gang up on me to insult me on the forum or go to my novel to give me one-star ratings.

Also, because I hate the idea that if someone is born the wrong way they will always be evil and will never be able to accomplish anything in their life. More than anything I hate how the "humans" in these novels are incapable of individuality and are all a uniform blob that the reader is meant to unquestionably hate, just someone being a human being enough for it to be assumed that they deserve to suffer and they are completely worthless and there's no chance for this to be an individual with their own unique morality and talents. Even the traditional 'evil' races are usually shown to be made of individuals that have their own personalities (even if they might still be evil), but this variety of fantasy humans gets treated as a uniform blob (and then called racist, just to add hypocrisy to the mix).

And the idea that people can look at this and act as if it is a fluffy and pleasant story makes my brain get stuck on a loop of disbelief.

As someone that also hates that kind of story type, I'd say it's your approach. People that don't want to think too hard about the moral implications for how a world treats it's background characters aren't going to react kindly to being told the stories they like are complete trash in blocks of text. Simply make your point, and then stop thinking about it once they reject your point.

Also don't be clickbaity. You made this thread to voice your take on some drama between yourself and a fellow author, and pretended like it was simply a matter of you being wronged. This thread only turned against you and started shit posting when it came out there was another side to the story. If you had just made a thread about how the inferior human trope is stupid and demeaning, people would've actually started discussing that instead of just clowning on you.

Yes, this thread was undoubtedly stupid and I wish that there was a way to delete it. I seem to have trouble controlling my anger, which is its own issue...

And there's also the problem of anger being the thing that can actually motivate me to post. I would love to be able to have a real discussion with people who like this, I really would. Like, someone in this thread gave their interpretation of that one chapter with the prisoner of war and after I calmed down I was able to see that I had really interpreted the whole thing in the worst way possible, but I still think that their interpretation was too positive. This difference of perspective is something I would actually want to discuss, but it seems impossible.

Well at least you're capable of admitting your own faults. That's good. As far as getting the thread deleted, from what I heard you can request the staff to delete a thread but they might not do it. So it's probably best to ignore any new messages in the thread and let it get buried over time.

You can request the admins to close this, though I doubt they'd close it soon, since it's been a while Tony appeared.

Ispheria did appear earlier, but I guess that admin didn't see this.

You mean these threads?
We don't clown on forli, we shitpost and joke between each other(well, most of us) Also, this person has troubles, serious troubles. Personally, I've tried to be understanding and provide a different point of view, explain this and that, but negativity just never stops.
I wish that there was a way to delete it.
Report it and mods will delete it. That's how @AliceShiki taught us to do.

Well, if there's one thing I'd say about this issue, it's 'think before you click'. We are easily swayed by our emotions and thoughts; but before saying our opinions, we have to think lots before making it known to everyone else...especially controversial topics.

As my journalist brother said, "On the internet, don't talk sh*t if you don't like to be treated like sh*t."

I said shitpost as well. I noticed in those threads there was significantly more discussion about what he wanted to talk about when he wasn't ranting about drama and clickbaiting. So I was right is what you're telling me.
@M.G.Driver What's with the sad react?

I will be completely honest, I don't understand what you mean here. forli made three threads. Three thread had serious discussions, of course there were also trolling and shitposting, but it's forum, it's inevitable. Another point I want to make is that forli didn't quite react to actual discussions. If you look at the locked thread, owo, trashy, sabruness, and j_chemist had an actual discussion, did forli react or reply to them? No. There is also a point that such topics are highly volatile, so some people simply don't want to discuss them. Anyway, what I want to say, three frigging threads were not enough for this person. This thread won't be the last either, unless forli decides to quit SH. And I think quitting would be benefitial to his or her mental health. Because no amount of discussion or encouragment gets through.

My point was I said he'd get clowned on less, and would actually be able to have discussions with people if he just tried to have a serious discussion instead of ranting about drama.

You then provided me with threads in which people were actually discussing, that had less shit posting because he didn't rant about drama.

That proved my point.

That actual discussion only started after the thread had already gone to shit and I was too fed up with the whole thing. When they made those posts I actually wanted to reply that I was glad someone was finally replying to the actual thread even if I disagree, I really should have said that, but I was too messed up at that time and then the thread got closed.

I wanted the last one to be the last, I was determined to make it the last, but then I saw those one-star ratings that seem to come from readers of this novel and in my mind it felt like people were taking advantage of the fact that I had decided to stop and I was like "I guess I stopping is not going to get them to leave me alone either".

I don't know... I've gotten way to emotionally invested on this topic, far more than I thought possible at first, and now I keep making the worst possible assumptions about everyone.

Man, I really hope that I never post another thread on this topic again, I should go back to giving people the benefit of the doubt, but I feel like nobody wants to give it to me.
oh yeah sorry. It was another guy
Ok, I know that this is WAY too late, but I want to say that I really appreciate that you gave an actual response to that topic of 'justifying genocide', even if I disagree and my anger makes it difficult to show it at times, I actually appreciate that you went responding to it point by point.

This is clearly out of your control. I don't think you should delete your novel as it won't stop you from thinking about stuff that angers you, but I do think you need a prolonged break.

Sorry for misundersting this. I'm just used to people liking replies to show they've at least read it. Now that I think about it, I was wrong. Not everyone do it.

:blob_cookie: I often do without reading, presuming they must have written something reasonable.

I already tried taking breaks but in the end, decided that I should do the opposite and write more since thinking about my novel makes me stop thinking about others.

I don't know if that would work but real life has been getting in my way, things have been very stressful for me later even outside of the internet.

I can relate to the real life part, can't write because of all the shit that happens around me.

Well, if I may speak, I'd like to suggest that trying to 'not give a care' or 'taking pop literature seriously' would help you. I mean, in the end, it will be what it will be, a fictional story. We may question others why they wrote such stuff, but as they have their own beliefs and complexities, you both are bound to get into conflict.

Yes, I understand that you'd find some abominations (in your opinion) online, but I really suggest let others have it their way...as long as you yourself isn't affected.

Like if you find something you didn't like, just keep it to yourself. I'm sure you've encountered 'reactionary' authors before; unless they asked, then don't tell what you have in mind, just to be safe on your part.

@forli I know it might be hard on you, but I really suggest you don't delete your works. The 1* bombardment will peter out eventually, and you can always redeem yourself. Don't be like me, who keeps on deleting his work before that his readers eventually got tired of him.

Hope you'll be okay soon.
