Seriously, why do people like these characters? Why do people make their protagonist like this?

They're all boring and lack any substance other than, "Oh, I'm so cold-hearted and strong. If you dare get in my way, I'll kill you." .

Like, shut up, man. You sound goofy as hell.

It's a power fantasy that's easy to write. Extra points if the protag was wronged™️ earlier and can justify this DARVO nonsense to themselves.

darvo - deny, accuse, reversing victim and offender. Comes up in abusive relationships.

Yeah, that's the problem. People need to stop enabling that BS and tell them to grow up.
lol why the fuck cant you just let people enjoy things? fuck off and read what YOU like. It may be annoying, i get it. But it aint hurting you. I understand the need to vent, but saying they need to "grow up" just because they like a certain kind of story is incredibly childish in itself, mate. Just saying. Live and let live.

Agreed. I have no problem with actual, reasonable development that makes it so they become callous as they become strong, but those are vanishingly rare.

Agreed as well. That person went too far.

They're pretty fun. Morally just people aren't exactly the best type of characters in a lot of isekai or regression stories, like can you imagine Fang Yuan with the personality of Mochizuki Touya? But there are also times where it sucks like Martial God Asura and Against the Gods edgy main characters who commits mass murderer every goddamn time and when they receive a revenge, they think they didn't deserve it or something. Like holy fuck dude, don't poke the hornet's nest if you don't want to be stung.

It just depends on the writer's skill i guess

Because it works? If it wouldn’t bring in readers it would be dropped quickly.
exactly. The only complaint i have is when the story is written shittily or when the trend gets so damn popular it keeps other type of stories i like from being created.

Like, i love isekais and harems, but i miss good old-fashioned romcom harem stories. Like Shuffle! I dont get those kinda stories anymore all that much....cuz everyone wants to write an isekai these days....

Hm yeah they dont often react realistically, do they? for example, apart from any lacking morals they may have, they often also lack any family or attachment to their former world just so its easier for the author to write without having to addresss any kind of emotional turmoil of suddenly losing everyone and everything the MC ever new and loved. Its lazy to just never at all address that.
Chuunis are cute
nah, a cutie who happens to be a chuuni is cute. A chuuni who isnt cute is just cringe.

Young Masters are villains because they manipulate and abuse women, fly into rages at the slightest of provocation, murder without remorse, rely on their inheritances while pretending it’s their own strength, and look down on everyone with a signature look of superiority.

But protagonists are heroes because they manipulate and abuse women, fly into rages at the slightest of provocation, murder without remorse, rely on their inheritances while pretending it’s their own strength, and look down on everyone with a signature look of superiority while narrating it all to us.

Since ancient times, Power Fantasy is very popular because it can grant the audience the feeling of power and awesomeness.

There's always a market for immature midle-schooler, as there's a market for literal baby, 3 year olds, 5 year olds, playground children, elementary schooler, mature teenager, young adults, grown adult, midlife crisis adult, late life crisis grandpa/Granma, and even market for 100yo granpa.

Coz many think they're cool.

But once a person matures, they'd realize how cringey it is being an edgelord...that is, if they ever matured.
