Maybe I am the only one who is bothered by this but often writers have dwarves use 'ye ole english' to make them seem more dwarven.

However, this creates a problem because unlike modern English where it is the same word for second person plural as well as second person singular old English is different.

Here ye, Here ye = 2nd person plural, talking to everyone, similar to 'you all'

So, when someone uses ye as second person singular I want to report it as a typo

Dwarf says, "I like ye sword" while pointing at person-not-persons sword.

What's the 2nd person singular? Is it "yer" or something else?

As a side note, that happens much more often than that. I've seen people using thy and thine wrongly as well, from the most common things. I'd say it's laziness, cause most people don't bother to check if what they think is correct is really correct.

Thy may be wrong but thine believes it is "thou."

I thought people wrote Dwarf speech by how they sounded, not because it was correct. Like an accent. "Yer gonna get shived laddy."

Dwarven shouldn't even be understood until the characters are piss drunk. It should be scrambled text that gets clearer and clearer as the MC is forced to drink with them. When he/she is unable to stand still anymore, is when their speech becomes modern-day English to the reader.

That, that's brilliant. Do you mind if I utilize this a bit?

This reminds me of that farmer in Bards tale who just speaks jibberish.

Wait Ye is just an abbreviation of 'The', like 'Ye olde Inn' is just 'The old Inn'... I did not know it could be used otherwise? Oh, nvm, it's like Dutch 'gij' or 'ge'.

Yeah, just report it as a spelling/grammatical mistake, if they want to write in two languages (I don't even know if that's allowed on SH), then they must not make such mistakes.

TBF, most just speak some kind of sailors tongue, for some odd reason.

I'm pretty sure this is an accent. I think. I don't read that many fantasy books despite being a primarily fantasy writer.

Really discounting the possibility of all dwarves speaking with a thick accent or having a diabetic slur. *cough* ableist
