Would anyone be interested in a story like this?

So, for context, I tend to write a lot of fantasy and isekai. I've recently posted the first chapters of my novel, but because I needed to write a bit of a backlog, I'm now a bit burn out. ( i wrote like 40k words in two weeks, someone help me)

When something like that happens, I tend to switch to my personal side-project. Think realistic take on what a smutty harem rom-com would actually work in real life, with tons of drama, six girls with issues, and the like. I've been wondering whether to post it here as well, but i feel like maybe there is not that much of a demand for it? Like, there is a lot of novels how follow the harem-smut formula, but not many of them have a completly normal, contemporary setting or anything like that. It's usually isekai or fantasy. The only one that comes to mind is Man of the House.

Idk. Is there an actual demand for a contemporary harem drama? Or should I just keep it to myself?

You're still safe, 3k per day is not that bad. I'd start to worry if I did 27k in 5 days.

As for the topic, I'd say that there will definitely be people intersted in such story. Generally those don't garner large audiences, but it's rare to have actually realistic harem in any kind of story, so as long as the drama is not stupidly exaggerated, many people will enjoy the change of pace.

I think what you should ask is, "do you really want to write a contemporary harem drama?"

Reason is, there's always a market for all genres, even Rule 34s and illegal ones. You just need to be consistent because readers won't read something that might be dropped by the author.

I did 12k in a day...should I call an ambulance? ??

but it's rare to have actually realistic harem in any kind of story
Also, the Ottoman Sultans (at least those in the drama, Magnificent Century) would like to have a word with you.

This for a hundred times. When I check a book and I can go and check the author, I instantly skip it if I see 5+ stories that none has the completed tag... and wasn't updated recently. (aka clearly dropped and abandoned). I won't start reading something that has a high % chance of being left unfinished like all the others. Blueballing readers is the worst.

there was a time when something took over me and I wrote approx 30 chapters in a go. minus the sleeping and eating time.
It was poorly written but damn I wrote it. I was so burned out that I did not read a single word after it for a week.

I believe readers exist for every type of thing and what you are writing will surely gain a decent audience if not many. just make sure the harem drama is not exaggerated. it tends to burn me out [personal taste].

Your idea boils down to literally every patreon smut game ever, so there's more than enough of a market for your story. Just keep at it and enough people will be drawn in by the power of smut.
