Uh, no. I meant... I would setup my chamber a bit like the place in the resident evil movies (not sure if it was called hive).
Oh. It is called Hive

If one of the primary purposes of the hideout is to preserve things I'd think that a location with very low entropy would be of importance. So I'd pick someplace cold, dry and inhospitable. Maybe not the tallest peak in the world. That would be too obvious but some place way above timberline.

If that is not secure enough there is always the moon. The L1 lagrange point is another option. Both options require millions of miles of traveling though. I'm not sure if this is feasible or not.

Under the palace.

If you keep it a secret, a whole dynasties may spend the time defending the secret without knowing it even exists. (muahahha)

Alternatively, if you are lord of the palace, you have it readily available so you can use your tomes of eldritch knowledge against your enemies (muhahahaaha)

Unless your hidden magical stash is the dead drop stash of sorts, then you want to have it far away where you go to pick up things where everything goes to shit.

Otherwise, it is better to have your magical artifact available.

If I were an evil wizard, I would certainly want to have my spellbook handy.

L1 langrange point?
It is the place where a planet's gravity and the sun's gravity cancel each other out. So stuff that is there tends to stay there.
